Specific Area of Responsibility:

The main tasks will be:

  • Coordinate with the M&R Superintendent the corrective and preventive maintenance prioritizing on the critical equipment of the tugs.
  • Inspect the vessels from the mast to the bilges addressing findings and actions to the captains in our HMS and SERTICA.
  • Plan and schedule the actions related to corrective and preventive maintenance with the captains in a weekly basis.
  • Provide the right tools and support to the captains and crew to conduct the maintenance in an efficient and safe way following the instructions from the maker and HMS.
  • Inspect the operation status of the equipment and instruct the crew in the correct reporting and closure of the defect reports in Sertica.
  • Verify compliance with SOVIQ audits on board vessels.
  • Provide training to the captains and chief engineer related to the operation and maintenance of equipment on board and the use of SERTICA.
  • Support business activities and ensure safe, efficient and cost-effective processes, complying with any contractual and Company’s requirements.
  • Oversee that the PMS is completed, conducted and recorded correctly.
  • Carry out performance tests of the fleet's engines as scheduled by SERTICA and HMS.
  • Collect and send for analysis the lub oil samples according to the schedule of SERTICA.
  • Technical approve the RQs in Sertica.
  • Perform Captains and Engineer's performance evaluations once a year.
  • Perform other ad hoc tasks as needed.

Required/Preferred Education 

  • University degree in Naval Sciences, Mechanical Engineering, Diesel, or related area.

Training and Experience

  • More than 3 years of experience in similar position, preferable.
  • Solid understanding of industrial mechanics, hydraulics, diesel mechanics, fuel systems, lubrication and refrigeration, desirable.
  • Proven experience in: electrical tools like multimeters, knowledge in sounding tanks, preparation of surface for painting, oil analysis, use of thermal gun and reading manometers and thermometers.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills across multiple levels in the organization and with external and internal stakeholders.
  • Fluent written and spoken Spanish. Advanced written and spoken English preferred.
  • Proficient in MS Office application.
  • Safety environment awareness.
