General Description:

As a member of an integrated team of Rehabilitation and education specialists, promotes a healthy professional practice environment and supports inter-professional collaborative relationships within OU Health. The research and education coordinator serves as a change agent, mentor, and leader and fully supports the Rehabilitation Student program, Evidence based practice, and professional development activities at OU Health.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Under supervisor of clinical department leaders and in collaboration with/support of various nursing, ancillary, and support department leaders with the organization, works to successfully meet the education needs of OU Health Rehabilitation Services
  • Communicates effectively, both written and verbally, through all levels of OU Health to promote a healthy practice environment
  • Provides education leadership and expertise within OU Health (OUH), as it pertains to Rehab Services, to achieve specific outcomes
  • Serves on one or more groups accountable for supporting core OUH orientation, and continuing education/professional development activities.
  • Demonstrates and applies expertise pertaining to Rehab Services evidence based standards of practice, development and usage of guidelines, curriculum development for professional development, orientation/onboarding, and competency management.
  • Works collaboratively with leaders, clinical and other experts, and colleagues throughout OUH to identify educational needs and practice gaps and designs programs to address these needs as they involve Rehab Services.
  • The Research and Education Coordinator will be expected to maintain clinical competence in their area of clinical expertise while also providing support to all Rehabilitation Services service lines

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  • Masters Degree from an approved school of Rehabilitation

Experience:  

  • 3 years of experience to include combination of relevant clinical/technical practice, responsibility for education functions/processes and /or leadership accountabilities

License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: Current licensure with Oklahoma State Board of Medical licensure and supervision as an Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, or a Speech Language Pathologist. Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Strong program management skills, and experience in clinical professional development. Knowledge of the normal development of speech, language and hearing and the ability to train others. Ability to perform diagnostic tests for communication disorders and formulate a treatment plan. Must be able to interact in a patient, encouraging manner with clients and students to understand their communication needs and assist them in achieving the program goals specific to them. Good interpersonal skills with customers, co-workers and clients.
