PRIMARY PURPOSE

Involvement in 1) the preparation of Federal & State income tax returns for corporations, S-corps, partnerships, and LLC’s, 2) preparation of various State and Locality tax compliance, 3) the preparation of income tax projections, 4) written and oral communication with Federal and State taxing authorities and Outside Investors, and 4) various tasks associated with income tax planning and structuring, for the Company and all of its investments. 

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

Subordinate staff – Instructing and supervising department Tax Analysts, Tax Accountant I and Administrative Staff.

Other internal contacts – Working with Various Company departments to gather information (e.g. Accounting, Legal, Leasing, etc.)

External contacts – May be involved in communication with Outside Investors and Federal & State taxing authorities.

SPECIFIC TASKS

1. Preparation of Property/Entity tax workpapers including but not limited to the review of entity trial balance, depreciation schedules (for regular tax, AMT, ACE, State and E&P purposes), fixed asset roll-forward reconciliation, book versus tax income and equity reconciliation, income and capital account allocation schedules, and state apportionment.

2. Preparation of various Federal and State Income Tax Returns (corporation, S-corp, partnership, & LLC) to meet annual tax filing requirements.

3. Preparation of various State and Locality monthly tax compliance.

4. Preparation of Property/Entity tax workpapers for income tax projections.

5. Provide necessary research and analysis to respond to Federal and State taxing authority notices.

6. Assist with various special projects.

             

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • College Degree in Accounting.

  • 2-4 years experience in accounting or tax position.

  • Individuals must be able to analyze balance sheets and income statements.  Posses the ability to learn and understand the tax preparation process, partnership agreements, and the Internal Revenue Tax Code and Regulations.

  • Individual must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel software.

  • Ability to learn and utilize ProSystem tax software and iSuite Fixed Asset Management as well as other various tax and system software.

  • Ability to learn and utilize Company accounting software.

  • Experience in Real Estate and Partnership Taxation a plus.

  • Multi-State Tax and Sales/Use Tax experience a plus.

  • Posses the skills necessary to work with Department personnel and cope with the necessary work schedule associated with Tax deadlines.
