PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Live Haul Associate assists in the transfer and maintenance of required machinery for poultry movement from grow out location to processing facility.   

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:    
•    Assist in the transfer, minor repair, and servicing of machines and related equipment utilized in the transfer of poultry before or after loading
•    Aid in spotting for live haul trucks at farm to ensure safe practices and mitigation of damage 
•    Operate mechanical loading equipment in compliance with safety guidelines to avoid damage to grower’s housing and equipment; notify appropriate personnel in event of damage immediately once discovered
•    Evaluate loading equipment and vehicles while operating and notify appropriate person of mechanical defects or needed repairs
•    Identify opportunities for improvement, develop improvement, present to appropriate personnel, and lead or participate in the implementation of improvement
•    Wear personal protective equipment in all areas where required
•    Perform additional relevant duties as assigned 

EDUCATION and CERTIFICATIONS
•    High School diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required
•    Valid driver’s license in good standing

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
•    Demonstrated ability to operate mechanical equipment used for loading poultry   
•    Ability to safely operate a forklift
•    Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
•    Follow departmental and company safety policies and programs
•    Wear required protective equipment in all areas where mandatory

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
•    Ability to work Non-standard shifts (Holiday, Weekend, extended) as needed per business need
•    Ability to lift up to 40 lbs utilizing correct lifting techniques
•    Ability to work in unusual environments including warn and dusty, wet and humid, and noisy environments
•    Ability to tolerate animal smells and exposure to chemicals within OSHA limits
•    Ability to bend, stoop, reach, grasp, twist, and kneel
