Iowa State University Dining is seeking a Systems Analyst II to support and enhance the technology that powers dining operations across campus. This role focuses on the development, integration, and ongoing support of enterprise systems that support meal plans, point-of-sale operations, and student-facing services.
This position plays a key role in ensuring systems function reliably in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. From building integrations to troubleshooting issues and supporting users, this role helps keep daily operations running smoothly while also identifying opportunities to improve processes and systems over time. This role requires someone who can take initiative, proactively identify and resolve issues, and adapt quickly as priorities shift.
What You’ll Do
Develop and support enterprise systems by designing, building, and maintaining functionality within Dining systems, including point-of-sale (POS), mobile applications, and meal plan programming.
Manage system integrations by creating and supporting connections between systems such as CSGold, POS, and other university platforms including Workday and StarRez.
Design and maintain databases through development of SQL queries, triggers, and automation to support reporting and system functionality while ensuring data integrity and security compliance.
Create and analyze reports by pulling and combining data from multiple systems to provide insights that support operational and strategic decisions.
Support users and troubleshoot issues by providing technical assistance for hardware and software, managing user access, and coordinating with campus IT partners to resolve issues. Respond to system needs in real time and take ownership of resolving issues from start to finish.
Train and guide staff on systems such as POS and CSGold, develop documentation, and support adoption of new processes or system updates. Provide leadership through knowledge sharing, clear communication, and support of team members and end users.
Provide supervision and support to IT support staff, including assigning work, conducting evaluations, and ensuring cross-training of skills. Lead by example through accountability, initiative, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Example of Duties
Deploys, maintains, and troubleshoots systems infrastructure and services including email, storage, and identity and access management.
Manages and monitors all installed systems and infrastructure ensuring the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability.
Collects and writes technical requirements for new systems.
Analyzes and implements an emerging technology that affects Iowa State University campus-wide.
Modifies, maintains, and updates complex software.
Prepares and conducts system and programming tests which may require the interfacing of diverse hardware and software.
Reviews potential applications and designs hardware/software interfaces.
Implements best practices for scalability, supportability, ease of maintenance, and system performance.
Assignments are generally of a difficult technical nature and may involve project leadership activities.
