Job Summary:

At Caterpillar’s South Milwaukee facility, we build some of the largest mining equipment on Earth, including Electric Rope Shovels and aftermarket parts for Draglines. In this role, as the Human Resources Manager, you will be the onsite lead HR of approximately 250 employees, and primarily responsible for overseeing all HR aspects within the facility while working closely with the Facility Manager and on-site senior leaders. As a member of the Human Resources team, you will need to have a growth mindset, promote continuous improvement, and help build a defect-free culture. What you will do:

  • Work with employees on all payrolls and all shifts, including union-represented employees, to provide direction and guidance on HR policies and procedures, ensuring consistency. 
  • Research, benchmark, create, design strategic initiatives and implementation strategies to improve business unit results.
  • Develop and coordinate programs to ensure proper and effective staffing, selection, onboarding, skill development and succession planning.
  • Actively participate as a functional resource on the facility leadership team ensuring human resources is an integral focus of the business strategy.
  • Provide guidance and direction to facility leadership on how best to maintain and improve the work environment.
  • Assist managers in addressing individual and organizational effectiveness issues and compensation administration.

Degree Requirement:

  • Degree or equivalent experience desired

  • Employee Relations: Knowledge of the rights and obligations in the employee relations; ability to adhere to legal requirements when handling employee negotiations.

  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
  • HR: Policies, Standards and Procedures: Knowledge of human resource function; ability to uphold the organization's and industry's standards, procedures and policies regarding human resources management.

Summary Pay Range:

$123,480.00 - $185,280.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
