Position Overview: We are seeking a highly competent and experienced candidate with experience in Transportation, Logistics, and Fleet Management to lead operations and strategic initiatives of our custom framing Manufacturing/Retail group. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in transportation and logistics management, with a proven track record of optimizing supply chain processes, reducing operational costs, and enhancing overall efficiency in a fast-paced manufacturing distribution and retail environment. This individual will be responsible for overseeing all transportation and fleet-related activities, ensuring timely and accurate deliveries, and implementing innovative strategies to drive continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
Transportation and Logistics Strategy:
Develop and execute a comprehensive transportation and logistics strategy that aligns with the organization's goals and objectives.
Identify and implement cost-effective measures to optimize the supply chain, improve delivery timelines, and enhance customer satisfaction.
Operational Efficiency:
Monitor and assess transportation and logistics performance regularly, identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategies to enhance overall efficiency.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline processes, minimize transportation costs, and reduce lead times.
Vendor and Carrier Management:
Build and maintain strong relationships with transportation vendors, carriers, and third-party logistics providers to negotiate favorable terms and service agreements.
Conduct regular performance evaluations of vendors and carriers to ensure service level agreements are met or exceeded.
Budgeting and Cost Control:
Develop and manage the departmental budget, identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising service quality.
Analyze financial data to track transportation expenses, fuel costs, and fleet maintenance expenditures.
Team Leadership:
Provide effective leadership to the transportation, logistics, and fleet management team, fostering a collaborative and results-driven work environment.
Conduct performance evaluations, offer training and professional development opportunities, and set clear goals to ensure employee growth and success.
Technology Integration:
Identify and implement transportation management systems and technology solutions to enhance tracking, route optimization, and overall operational efficiency.
Stay updated with industry trends and best practices to ensure the company remains at the forefront of transportation and logistics advancements.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in transportation, logistics, and fleet management, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role.
Proven ability to develop and execute strategic plans designed to improve transportation and logistics performance.
Strong knowledge of transportation regulations, safety protocols, and industry best practices.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.
Demonstrated experience in contract negotiation and relationship management with transportation vendors and carriers.
Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a diverse team.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders and external partners.
Familiarity with transportation management systems, fleet management software, and related technology solutions.
