About the Role

We’re the world’s leading provider of secure financial messaging services, headquartered in Belgium. We are the way the world moves value – across borders, through cities and overseas. No other organisation can address the scale, precision, pace and trust that this demands, and we’re proud to support the global economy.

We’re unique too. We were established to find a better way for the global financial community to move value – a reliable, safe and secure approach that the community can trust, completely. We’re always striving to be better and are constantly evolving in an ever-changing landscape, without undermining that trust. Five decades on, our vibrant community reflects the complexity and diversity of the financial ecosystem. We innovate diligently, test exhaustively, then implement fast. In a connected and exciting era, our mission has never been more relevant. Swift now has a presence in 200+ countries and legal territories to serve a community of more than 12,000 banks and financial institutions.
Are you looking for an opportunity to work with a world-class team and make a significant impact in the financial industry? Do you thrive in a collaborative and innovative environment? Join us at Swift, the leading provider of secure financial messaging services, as an Observability Platform Data Engineer.

In this role, you will have the exciting opportunity to enhance the usage and increase business value of our Observability Platform. As a member of the Enablement Squad in our Observability cluster, you will work closely with various teams and individuals across the globe to understand their observability needs and successfully implement solutions. Your contribution will be crucial in delivering a smooth and exceptional Service Observability experience for our internal users.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the onboarding of new teams and data sources to the observability platform
  • Enable sophisticated dashboards and guide internal users to optimize their data usage
  • Analyze, enrich and connect data to generate meaningful insights
  • Implement data quality checks and monitoring processes to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of data ingested into the platform.
  • Optimize data pipelines for performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness, leveraging ELK stack features and best practices.
  • Build and maintain applications (Java) to expose observability data for advanced usage
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and best practices in data engineering, ELK stack, and JSON schema design, and apply them to enhance our observability platform.

We are searching for professional Data Engineers who are highly proficient in ELK (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) and DevOps tools like Jenkins, Git, and Ansible. Detailed knowledge of RHEL (Red Hat Enterprise Linux) and Kafka is needed. While a degree in a relevant field is vital, we recognize that equivalent experience can be just as valuable. Demonstrated success in implementing and/or supporting data engineering platforms is a must for this position.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3 years of experience in data engineering, with a focus on designing and implementing data pipelines and ETL processes using ELK stack (ELK data engineer certification is a plus).
  • Strong understanding of data modeling concepts and expertise in JSON schema design and validation, with experience in defining and maintaining complex data structures.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools for CI/CD and infrastructure as code (advanced Ansible, RHEL, Git, Jenkins).
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues in distributed systems.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
