Position Overview:

Ameresco is seeking a Real Estate Paralegal to support our Corporate Legal team located in Framingham, MA. This position is hybrid and reports directly to the Assistant General Counsel. This is an excellent opportunity for a career real estate paralegal in this dynamic industry; position provides hands-on experience of complex real estate transactions in the development and financings of renewable resources.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist members of the legal department to draft, negotiate and close real estate leasing, development, acquisitions, financing, and other transactions, including review of title commitments and policies and underlying exception documents and ALTA surveys, finalizing deliverables, and assembly of execution copies.

  • Prepare/Review initial drafts of leases, lease amendments and miscellaneous other documents (including easements, licenses, estoppel certificates and memoranda of lease) for attorney review and coordinate execution.

  • Perform routine filings and compliance work related to permitting of projects.

  • Assist members of the legal department in development, organization, and maintenance of real estate data rooms.

  • Develop and maintain a file indexing system that can be used as an active archive for all ongoing and completed transactions.

  • Monitor changes to government guidelines or regulations and submit reports on pertinent changes as requested by attorneys.

  • Perform routine communications with outside counsel and service providers (including interfacing directly with the title company and surveyor to resolve any issues or discrepancies and obtaining acceptable title policies and endorsements), as well as internal development team to compile deliverables for various transactions under guidance and direction of attorneys.

  • Assist members of the legal department in preparation and review of various real estate related documents and recording of documents in multiple jurisdictions.

  • Keep up to date on technology and suggest ways to utilize in company operations.

  • Perform other duties as needed to support the legal department and the development and financing of projects for Ameresco, Inc.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent years of related work experience; experience as real estate paralegal.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Interest in renewable energy and energy efficiency, a plus.

  • Notary public, a plus

  • Previous experience in an office setting, a plus.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

  • Willingness to take initiative, pay attention to detail and be proactive.

  • Excellent communications, writing and proofreading skills.

  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills and ability to balance multiple tasks.

  • Strong project management skills.

  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
