About the Opportunity:  

NFF is seeking a Director, Talent to lead and execute our recruitment and hiring strategies. As a CDFI and consulting nonprofit managing $400 million in financing assets, primarily through loans to nonprofits in education, healthcare, human services, and housing, we require a dynamic leader to guide & execute our talent acquisition efforts. While recruitment is the primary focus of this role, this position will also support other employee engagement and talent projects that support NFF’s talent lifecycle. 

The Director will work closely with the Chief Operating Officer, Talent team, and hiring managers across NFF to develop and manage a standardized recruitment process that aligns with our commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. The position can be based remotely, with a preference for candidates near our New York, Philadelphia, or Boston offices. Occasional travel may be required for all-staff meetings and department retreats. 

The Director, Talent will report to the Chief Operating Officer who is based in New York. 

 

What you’ll do: 

 

Talent Vision & Strategy 

  • Develop and implement a talent acquisition strategy aligned with NFF’s values and growth objectives. 
  • Oversee talent acquisition programs, practices, and policies to ensure alignment with DEIB practices. 
  • Provide data-driven insights to senior leadership to support informed decision-making. 
  • Define and track key recruitment metrics to measure effectiveness. 
  • Conduct sector research to inform recruitment strategies. 
  • Develop partnerships with vendors, partners, and prospective employees to maximize organizational value. 
  • Engage in self-directed learning through reputable online content, conferences, and some in person events in order to stay current in the field and regarding Talent trends & practices overall. 
  • Identify opportunities to optimize recruitment technologies and systems for efficiency and user experience. 

Talent Recruitment and Selection 

  • Lead end-to-end recruitment activities, including resume screening, interviews, and offer processes, ensuring compliance with applicable laws. 
  • Design structured recruitment processes, including job postings, candidate questions, and work samples, aligned with business needs. 
  • Support hiring managers with NFF’s selection processes, leveraging the Greenhouse recruitment platform. 
  • Actively recruit and source candidates to build a strong, diverse talent pipeline. 
  • Build strong relationships with hiring managers, providing consistent communication and support throughout the hiring process. 
  • Ensure a positive candidate experience by collecting feedback and utilizing data to continuously improve the process. 

Culture-Building & Employee Experience 

  • Lead and collaborate on culture-building and employee experience initiatives, including retention strategies, as a member of the Talent team.

 

Who You Are: 

  • You have a minimum of 7 years of professional experience in talent acquisition. 
  • You possess expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and PowerPoint and are comfortable gathering, synthesizing, and reporting Talent data. 
  • You are highly collaborative, with experience leading strategies & initiatives across various stakeholders. 
  • You are an experienced facilitator, skilled in managing multiple stakeholders at various levels of leadership to gain trust and buy-in. 
  • You excel in relationship-building, with a focus on centering the needs of employees and candidates. 
  • You are a highly effective project manager, adept at handling multiple initiatives and translating complex data into clear insights. 
  • You demonstrate strong problem-solving and analysis skills, anticipating challenges, identifying issues, and implementing effective solutions. 
  • You have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • You are committed to reflection and continuous improvement in your practice and leadership. 
  • You understand Talent & HR technology and can enhance workflows and systems for efficiency and improved candidate and hiring manager experiences. 
  • You have a proven track record of developing and implementing successful recruitment strategies aligned with DEIB principles. 
  • You maintain a high level of integrity and handle sensitive information confidentially. 
  • You are flexible, adaptable, and capable of pivoting quickly to meet organizational needs. 
  • You embody NFF’s mission, core values and commitment to equity. 

 

Compensation:  

At NFF, we are committed to discussing the depth and breadth of your background and experience during the interview process. We use this information to determine the best offer, ensuring consideration of internal pay equity. The salary range for this position is $122,900-126,500, with final compensation based on relevant skills and experience. NFF offers a comprehensive benefits package, including up to 18 paid holidays, 3 floating holidays, unlimited vacation time, health insurance with an NFF-funded health reimbursement account, and employer non-match & match contributions toward a retirement plan, professional development & education fund programs. Additionally, the NFF team is remote with at-will access to offices NFF offices in five (5) cities, access to a work from home fund, and flexible spending accounts for medical, commuter, and childcare expenses.
