Job Description

Ascent Private Capital Management of U.S. Bank is a boutique division of U.S. Bank’s Wealth Management offering that exclusively serves ultra-high net worth clients. The Family Office Accountant is part of Ascent’s Timber Services Group, a team providing specialized accounting and finance services for a group of Ascent’s client families that have significant investments in timber property. The Timber Services Group is responsible for meeting the fiscal management, accounting and reporting needs related to these timber interests.

The Family Office Accountant processes proceed and logging cost activity from timber sales, maintains timber inventory volume and cost records, and performs various internal audit control functions. A custom developed software application is utilized to aid in the unique accounting and tax requirements of timber.

This position performs regular reconciliation of market value, cash and cost between this subsidiary software application and the Bank’s primary client account statement system. The position requires strong attention to detail. Tasks range from reviewing results of fully automated processes to performing manual data entry updates.

Maintains adequate accounting and control for various accounting functions. Maintains and reconciles general ledger and subsidiary ledger accounts. Prepares financial statements and reports. Maintains and develops automated accounting systems, controls, and procedures. Prepares and develops reports for management and/or for regulatory authorities. Responds to inquiries regarding accounting policies, procedures, and issues from management, external auditors, and regulatory authorities.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent work experience
  • Five or more years of experience in financial accounting activities

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Proficient computer skills, especially Microsoft Office applications
  • Considerable knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other regulations
  • Considerable knowledge of accounting, reporting, and analysis
  • Ability to identify and resolve exceptions and to analyze data
  • CPA or CMA preferred

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $79,135.00 - $93,100.00 - $102,410.00
