Position Responsibilities

As a Senior Software Engineering Manager, you will be managing teams that are building impactful user-facing technology in a high-quality way.  You will take ownership of engineering goals around People, Processes, and Technologies that provide solutions to business problems or improve our investment/technological capabilities. You will be expected to have valuable input on the shaping of these technologies over time. 

You will play a pivotal and impactful role across our entire organization, operating in parallel across strategic, tactical, commercial, and technical workstreams. You will have ownership and be accountable for the ongoing development and growth of your software engineers and tech lead, and as a relatively small organization, there will be an expectation of being "close to the code"

You will also be regularly liaising between Architects, Technical Leads, Product Managers, and our investment community to ensure you are tackling the highest priority endeavors and your teams are utilizing appropriate software development processes and tools to achieve the relevant goals. You’ll also set team standards and ensure the bar is set appropriately.

Preferred Requirements

  • Excellent software engineering fundamentals, both in terms of design/architecture and the associated software lifecycle considerations (reliability/scalability/performance etc.) within complex distributed systems/microservices.  
  • 5+ year of Demonstrable experience of managing software engineers, and technical leads across both work efforts and personal development
  • An experience mixture of managing technology platforms at scale within both mid to larger enterprise environments, and smaller start up adjacent environments.
  • Demonstrable experience in SDLC process understanding and optimizing a sizeable software engineering organization
  • First class verbal and written communication skills
  • Relevant academic qualifications in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics or similar discipline

Location Requirements:

For most of our roles, Bridgewater offers remote work flexibility with most employees required to work on campus as their principal work location a minimum of 2-4 days per week with the option to work offsite on the other days. 

Compensation Band:

The wage range for this role is $1MM to $1.5MM, inclusive of base salary, discretionary bonus, and long term incentive. The expected base salary for this role is between 30% - 40% of this wage range.
