NIPD-NJ is actively seeking a Full Time Residential Supervisor to join our team. The ideal candidate will be an effective leader as well as a team player with high levels of integrity, flexibility and dedication. You will work in a residential group home teaching life skill, providing individual and group counseling, recreation, and promoting community integration. Our program supports an aging and active people with intellectual and or/developmental disabilities. This unique opportunity caters to providing supports to the older population, in all areas of care. This may include supporting people with conditions such as functional impairment and dementia; people who use oxygen tanks; and people who may frequent trips to the hospital for both emergency and routine services. Our programs require the understanding of varying psychological complexities, and the ability to exhibit patience.

Schedule: Monday – Friday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm with flexibility required.

Compensation: $54,429.60

Key responsibilities:

  • Ensuring health, safety, and habilitation of the people we support consistent with agency philosophy and department practices.
  • Ensuring the appropriate, therapeutically documented level of supervision in the residence, day program or community to ensure and protect the health and/or safety of the people we support.
  • Providing program/floor coverage, when necessary.
  • Promoting and maintaining the excellence of the programs
  • Developing professional, empathic relationships with family members ensuring they are included in the team process. 
  • Leading and facilitating interdisciplinary team meetings and staff meetings to ensure effective communication. Attend regional and agency supervisor meeting or as directed by your supervisor. Attending and actively participating in the planning meeting for the people we support.

  • Playing an active role in the hiring process; interviewing and selecting appropriate staff based on program needs

  • Supervising staff to ensure they are meeting the needs of the people we support and agency standards.
  • Utilizing participatory management
  • Fostering the Open-Door Policy
  • Maintaining oversight and compliance of systems specific to role and responsibilities
  • Fostering communication and maintaining professional between relevant supports including those within the program, within the agency, and supports outside the agency
  • Overseeing all financial systems, maintaining records for the people we support and program expenditures.
  • Operating the program within budgetary guidelines.
  • Maintaining a safe environment for staff and the people we support and reporting any hazardous conditions.
  • Ensuring the completion and maintenance of all paperwork and written records related to individual treatment. This includes but is not limited to medical records, treatment records, progress reports, data collection, behavior reports, incident reports, billing records, and all written communication systems.
  • Reporting and monitoring incidents, as well as assist with the investigative process.
  • Required to perform your responsibilities as they currently exist or may change in meeting the needs of the department, under the supervision of your supervisor/manager.

Education and Experience:

  • BA/BS strongly preferred
  • Prior supervisory experience required
  • Prior Direct Support Professional experience preferred
  • Background in supporting people with intellectual/developmental disabilities or mental health preferred

  • Highly flexible personality type
  • Valid Driver's License preferred depending on location
  • Flexibility to respond to calls and programmatic needs beyond regular work hours
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to learn/use Workforce Management software to effectively carry out essential business processes
