Coil Equipment Maintenance Tech 1st Shift

RESPONSIBILITY LEVEL:

To maintain & troubleshoot any of the following equipment:  fin press, expander press, and hairpin tubing press. 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

  • Troubleshoot and repair tooling failures in expanders, fin presses, fin press dies, and hairpin machines
  • Work directly with front-line supervisors of the production areas to provide maintenance support on coil manufacturing equipment
  • Works directly with coil manufacturing set up operators to ensure correct usage and care of coil manufacturing equipment
  • Determines need for tool and die care and works with Tool & Die department to get repairs done in a timely fashion.
  • Proactively and preventatively maintain coil manufacturing equipment to ensure maximum uptime of equipment
  • Reads, understands, and interprets equipment manuals to help troubleshoot equipment failures
  • Responds to failures via phone call or area presence Will help and support the maintenance department in the transition to documented repairs to improve preventative maintenance program

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must attend and pass the Johnson Controls Manufacturing Training and Safety class.
  • Ability to use Calipers, Micrometers, Height Gages, Depth Gages, Indicators and other precision measurement tools
  • Ability to read and interpret blue prints, schematics, ladder diagrams, engineering drawings. Individuals would have preference if they had machining and fabrication experience, drill press, lathe, or grinder experience
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Perform complex mechanical alignments and calibration of equipment to quality standards.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Overtime is required to meet production demands and can include Saturdays and Sundays when necessary.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.  The employee frequently is required to walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 55 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee is regularly exposed to vibration. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.  The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places and outside weather conditions.  The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The employee in this job must be knowledgeable of and follow all Company safety policies and procedures.
