Position Overview:

As part of the talented Investment Casting Propellers team, you will be the wax and shell departments which includes two different production lines. The wax and shell room Engineer will work closely with our internal subject matter expert to fully understand our operations and customer needs.

Essential Functions:

  • Process ownership of steel investment casting process for wax pattern and ceramic shelling
  • Develop new and refine existing wax, shell and pouring processes and reduce scrap, rework and product cost
  • Assists in the control of quality and productivity while maintaining good housekeeping and safety standards on a continual basis
  • Works in tandem with supervisory staff to meet production requirements
  • Independently manage a portfolio of projects to find and fix the root cause of part quality issues
  • Investigate, propose & manage large capital and cost reduction projects
  • Prepare and document work instructions to maintain ISO compliance
  • Works closely with all team members to ensure each task is completed in a safe and efficient manner in compliance with all regulatory requirements
  • Attends safety meetings and training programs and participates in plant safety programs as required.
  • Act as a liaison between design engineering & manufacturing personnel
  • Work closely with operations to best understand current and past practices and deploy and sustain process improvements
  • Work closely with vendors supplying wax, flours and sands and other production supplies
  • Become the wax tooling subject matter expert and work to improve tools and inspection of tools
  • Understand basic robotic moves and how to work with controls technicians to make improvements
  • Work with the team to develop new products when applicable

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field
  • Strong mechanical as well as "hands on" aptitude
  • Passion for developing and executing best in class investment casting processes
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to independently manage and prioritize projects
  • Dependable, self-motivated, and engaged learner
  • Ability to interact and communicate with different job functions and lead cross functional teams
  • The ability to read and understand part and tooling prints and modify prints using CAD
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing methodologies

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous process engineering experience in investment casting foundry
  • Knowledge and understanding of GD&T
  • Ability to lead DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) projects
  • Exposure to Microsoft products including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Programming experience with robots

Working Conditions:

  • Need to be able to communicate effectively verbally and written via shift notes and emails
  • Ability to occasionally lift to 35 lbs.
