The Home Buying team is responsible for end-to-end management of CommBank’s Home Loan business including distribution through proprietary and third-party channels, acquisition, retention, customer experience, risk, product and continuous improvement.

Within Home Buying, the Specialty Products and Simplification team has responsibility for Home Buying’s climate strategy and sustainable finance products as well as the migration and closure strategy for our quarantined home lending products.

Do work that matters

In this role you will play a key role in delivering on our Home Buying Climate Strategy which focuses on raising awareness and helping our customers improve the resilience of their homes to natural hazards and supporting the decarbonisation of Australian homes.

You will work with stakeholders across CommBank to deliver on customer experiences that help them better understand their property’s resilience and sustainability, inform them of the most impactful ways they can improve their homes, and support them in making the recommended changes.

To do this you will confidently address stakeholder questions and concerns and accurately evaluate ambiguous situations to reach informed decisions at pace to keep your initiatives progressing.  You will be able to resolve complex issues by having a clear understanding of the problem, have the ability to articulate the support required and then use effective strategies and techniques to escalate as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive Home Buying’s climate strategy, executing and reviewing the roadmap to have the most impact for our customers
  • Contribute to and lead product reviews and address key governance requirements (e.g. Product Governance Forum, Product Development and Distribution Policy, Pricing and Credit Risk)
  • Prepare product papers and reports to various governance forums, senior stakeholders and leadership teams
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to get buy-in and alignment with the climate strategy and approach
  • Work with impacted teams to ensure effective embedding of product changes
  • Develop and manage content for products within your problem space
  • Participate in the quarterly business planning cycles, working with your squad to prioritise the backlog and accurately manage delivery expectations
  • Support business verification testing activities  
  • Actively participate within your team to discuss progress, impediments and prioritisation
  • Access and analyse data to make informed recommendations and decisions about the right path forward
  • Understand the evolving regulatory environment that the product operates within
  • Manage operational risk incidents and issues relating to the product, uplifting and implementing controls where required

We’re interested in hearing from people who have:

  • An understanding of improving Australian’s resilience to natural hazard risks and Australia’s roadmap to net zero emissions
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering customer products and/or tools with climate focus
  • Experience as a product manager within financial services or demonstrated experience in delivering multiple initiatives with competing stakeholder priorities
  • Experience working in an Agile environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven stakeholder engagement skills
  • Proven experience in planning and time management skills
