POSITION OVERVIEW
The Scrum Master acts as a servant leader to coach teams on their journey to self-organization and adoption of an agile mindset. He or she is an agile expert knowledgeable of many agile practices, techniques and frameworks including, but not limited to, Scrum, Kanban, XP and Disciplined Agile. The Scrum Master supports the teams in the definition of their ways of working and guides them thru their continuous improvement process. As a team facilitator, this person creates the conditions to allow the team to be successful in their value delivery ensuring they stay focused on their commitments, removing impediments and fostering enterprise awareness.
CHALLENGES TO BE MET
Act as Scrum Master for two teams, focusing on providing guidance on agile mindset and practices, self-organization, collaboration and continuous improvement.
Help teams stay focussed on fulfilling their commitments and delivering value according to expected quality.
Address impediments in a timely manner to minimise impact on commitments and improve value delivery
Support the teams in the definition of their ways of working and ensure they are followed.
Facilitate key team meetings (e.g., daily, sprint planning, sprint review, retrospective).
Assist the Product Owner with keeping a healthy product backlog and offer coaching the role.
Ensure cross-team coordination with the other Scrum Masters and manage dependencies between teams and external contributors.
Coach teams on good planning and estimation practices.
Coach teams on systemic thinking and enterprise awareness.
Maintain and report on team’s relevant metrics and monitor team’s progress towards the project’s milestones.
Actively contribute to the Agile Community of practices.
Support the organization on the adoption of an agile mindset and practices.
Be a change agent.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Professional Experience
At least four years of relevant experience in a leadership role (e.g., Scrum master) with agile teams, on various initiatives, applying and reinforcing agile practices
At least five years of experience in Information Technology
Experience in a large organization is a key asset
Experience in a banking industry is an asset
Educational Experience
Bachelor of Information Technology or equivalent experience
Scrum Master Certification (e.g., CSM, PSM, SSM) or Kanban certification (e.g., TKP, KMP, PSK)
Disciplined Agile Certification (e.g., CDA, DALSM, DASM) (an asset)
Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge of Agile practices and frameworks such as: Kanban, JIT, Lean principles, Disciplined Agile, XP, SAFe, Nexus, etc.
Excellent leadership, facilitation, and coaching skills
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
As a pragmatic mindset and a systemic approach
Working knowledge of the various areas of IT expertise
Knowledge of the Azure DevOps platform (an asset)
Soft Skills
Excellent customer service, interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills
Ability to build and manage relationships effectively in a matrix environment
Autonomous and self-organized
Ability to prioritize efficiently
Ability to adapt to a changing environment
Language
Bilingualism (English and French) is required
