Job Description

Position Scope

Provide Program Management leadership to new program.  Primary focus will be on Programs that have been defined as Major in scope.

Major Responsibilities

1. Manage project/program from concept to SOS including (but not limited to):

  • Lead activities to determine the business opportunity for the project associated risks and feasibility; develop program plan estimates and recommend whether the program makes business sense and secure approval.
  • Assemble & Lead a cross-functional core team to manage delivery of the product definition and project plan including cost, schedule, risks, contingencies, and estimated business results.
  • Lead the core team to carry out work described by the plan, making adjustments as needed, launching the product on time and on budget, meeting the product performance requirements, and delivering the business objectives that justified the project.
  • Evaluate early product quality issues, lead the core team to resolve issues and close project, handing off cleanly to manufacturing; capture successes and opportunities for improvement to be employed by other project teams.

2. Provide accurate and timely information to functional managers about performance of team members to support continuous improvement of cross-functional product development.

3. Develop and manage positive relationships with co-program managers in US, product managers, functional managers, functional leads, team members, and others as required).

4. Ensure schedule/resource plans are current and aligned with the planned direction and outcome.

5. Provide mentoring to project managers, and/or program specialists.

Education /Experience

BS in Engineering required; MS in Engineering or MBA preferred.   A minimum of 5 years’ experience within a Product Development role, preferably within Consumer Electronics.  In addition, 3 to 5 years’ experience within a Program Manager role with a proven track record of successfully managing projects from concept phase through production start. 

Ability to demonstrate strong experience in the following areas:

1. Risk management and mitigation

2. Lead or participate in business impact analysis

3. Crisis management; scope and impact clarification

4. Team building and Team leadership

5. Conflict resolution

6. Demonstrated acumen across wide range of engineering disciplines, ie. Electronics design/manufacturing, mechanical design/assembly, User Interface and software, industrial design, plastics and acoustics.

7. Effective interpersonal skills
