CNC Operator

The successful CNC Operator will be performing moderately complex assignment planning, layout, set up, operating and making tool adjustments for various types of manual, numerically controlled and computerized machine shop equipment.

Location: Mississauga, ON

Your Challenge:

  • Manufacturing and inspecting detailed parts and tools from blueprints, sketches, drawings and verbal instructions using a variety of machining tools and equipment (mills, lathes, boring mills, drill presses, saw and other machining equipment) and using mathematical and geometrical calculations

  • Determining how to set up and operate machines based on instructions received.

  • Performing minor repairs of equipment

  • Keeping work area clean and free from safety hazards

  • Maintaining acceptable quality and efficiency level

  • Using measuring or layout tools such as verniers, micrometers, height gauges, dial indicators, height master, gauge blocks, angle plates, V- blocks, bore and pitch gauges, protractors, squares and dividers

What You Bring:

  • 5 years machine shop experience and/or have completed a recognized apprenticeship as a General Machinist.

  • Ability to setup, and operate CNC machines considered an asset

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and work from work order routing sheets

  • Ability to machine as per drawing tolerance of .0005" where required

  • Must be able to demonstrate General Machinist skills in one of the following areas:

    • Lathe

    • Milling

    • Must be able to set up and use machine shop power and pneumatic tools

    • Must be able to design and manufacture fixtures and template

    • Must be able to make own layouts as per drawing

    • Must be able to understand GD&T tolerances

    • Experience operating forklifts, cranes, plate clamps and slings
