The Manager Line Operations is responsible for the management of all line operations activities at Network Aviation, which includes the management of over 200 Flight Crew members operating a fleet of Fokker 100s and Airbus A320s. The position reports to the General Manager Flight Operations and Chief Pilot and is part of a supportive management team focused on development and performance. You will be responsible for the development of standard operating policy and procedures, and be capable of being the CASA approved delegate for the Head of Flight Operations position. The Manager Line Operations administers Line Pilot management, including performance related matters, attendance management, fitness for work and conduct matters. The role fosters effective collaboration across a broad range of stakeholder groups, including the ROC, Ground Services, Cabin Crew (Customer Experience) Engineering and Maintenance to support a safe, efficient and sustainable operation.

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • Ability to hold delegation as Head of Flight Operations whilst incumbent is on leave. Maintain ongoing post holder accreditation to company and regulatory requirements
  • Initiate and manage crew welfare strategies for F100 and A320 Flight Crew workforce.
  • Develop and implement communication strategies for Flight Crew workforce. Ensure that crew are adequately informed about information pertaining to Flight Operations and the broader Network Aviation and Qantas Group operation as appropriate.
  • Proactive communication and consultation with pilot representatives and feedback to the Chief Pilot on matters needing escalation.
  • Drive and hold accountability for all performance targets including safety, On Time Performance (OTP) and Net Promoter Score (NPS) for line operations
  • Manage and monitor on-time performance and improve technical crew delay performance for the applicable base through strategic initiatives
  • Lead and develop projects that focus on continuous improvement
  • Provide regular direction, feedback, guidance and support to Senior Base Pilots about their performance and conduct.
  • Develop, review and approve, prior to promulgation, the Company Flight Administration Manual amendments.
  • Manage the development and implementation of new manual content to support changes to the Network Aviation operation, including new ports and fleet variants.
  • Develop generic SOPs across the F100 and A320 Fleet, including the development of new SOPs to support changes to the Network Aviation operation, including new ports (including privately owned charter ports and public transport airports) and fleet variants
  • Participate in ongoing BARs accreditation processes to ensure AOC’s ongoing ability to service resource sector clients through delivery of charter operations
  • Perform end to end case management for matters relating to performance, conduct, fitness for work and DAMP
  • Provide project leadership on internal transformational projects as required, including Network changes, fleet optimisation etc
  • Comply with Group Management Systems and Policy

Your experience, qualifications and attributes will include:

  • Minimum 5 years operational line pilot experience operating in a High Capacity RPT and/or Charter operation.
  • Bachelor of Science - Aviation highly desirable (or significant aviation management experience)
  • Type qualification on either the F100 or A320 aircraft
  • Sound understanding of Flight Operations safety management.
  • Strong leadership skills, with capability to lead geographically disperse team members
  • Demonstrated effective case management capability
  • Strong communication skills and high level of attention to detail in written communication
  • Effective prioritisation and time management
