The Northrop Grumman Communications team is looking for a savvy and strategic Communications Representative 2 or 3 to join our team of qualified, diverse talent supporting our Propulsion Systems business unit.  This position reports to the Propulsion Systems Communications Manager and will be located onsite at our Promontory, Utah location.

In this job, you’ll:

  • Implement communications programs to support company business objectives with the media, public, industry, stockholders, and employees.
  • Utilize strategic communications activities to elicit desired target audience actions and help shape customer perceptions, public opinion, and policy decisions.
  • Write, edit, distribute and measure results for content on a variety of channels, including talking points, articles, scripts, website copy, social media, intranet, email, and events.
  • Assist in preparing key opinion leaders and technical experts to provide perspective and insight to the media.
  • Work closely with senior communications specialists, other members of the division communications team, and other communications personnel across the sector and corporation.
  • Develop and maintain media lists, write media pitches and monitor news coverage.
  • Support marketing communications for paid campaigns and the development of marketing collateral.
  • Procure, and produce a diverse array of inspirational content about our people, technologies, successes, and business capabilities. Content will range from articles and videos, to interviews, Q&As, webinars, infographics, and photo/caption features.
  • Manage the capture/production, approval, storage, and retrieval of photos, videos, graphics, and other visual assets.
  • Cultivate working relationships with business leaders, spokespersons, and technical experts.
  • Ensure communications plans and tactics are consistent with the company’s strategic vision and reflect the Northrop Grumman brand.

Our team is responsible for all internal and external communications activities supporting the Propulsion Systems business unit for Northrop Grumman’s Space Systems business to include:

  • Editorial & Content Production
  • Animation, Videography, Photography & Graphic Design
  • Events, Trade Shows & Presentation Facilities
  • Employee & Site Communications

This role can be filled at either a level 2 or level 3 as outlined in the basic qualifications below:

Basic qualifications – Level 2:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, Journalism, English, Marketing or a related field with 3+ years of experience in a Communications capacity – OR – a master’s degree with 1+ years of experience as outlined above. 
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, strong judgement, problem solving and organizational skills, and superb attention to detail.
  • Strong writing and editing skills.
  • Experience producing editorial content for a media organization or managing owned digital channels such as web properties and social media accounts.  
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential materials appropriately.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance.  US Citizenship is a prerequisite.

Basic qualifications – Level 3:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, Journalism, English, Marketing or a related field with 6+ years of experience in a Communications capacity – OR – a master’s degree with 4+ years of experience as outlined above. 
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, strong judgement, problem solving and organizational skills, and superb attention to detail.
  • Strong writing and editing skills.
  • Experience producing editorial content for a media organization or managing owned digital channels such as web properties and social media accounts.  
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential materials appropriately.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance.  US Citizenship is a prerequisite.

  • Aerospace and Defense experience.
  • Photography skills and familiarity with digital camera operation.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Salary Range: $62,200.00 - $93,400.00Salary Range 2: $76,600.00 - $115,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
