As a Regional Sales Manager (RSM), you will be responsible main for managing and leading a group of Area Sales Leaders (ASLs) and harmonizing and implementing Guayaki’s commercial strategy and brand standards throughout Guayaki’s Distribution Partner Network within assigned geographies that are accountable for in-store execution through a set group of key customers. The Regional Sales Manager will also be responsible for the coaching, training and development of their respective teams. The Regional Sales Manager will be accountable for driving sales volume and Guayaki’s initiatives, tracking Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

How you’ll help:

  • Implement Guayaki’s marketing mix within DP and YMCO, including in-store brand standards and merchandising guidelines (i.e. POS, pricing, etc.).  
  • Work collaboratively across the organization and share best practices. Act as a major contributor/leader among peer groups.
  • Strategic Business Planning: Leading the annual Business Planning process with Distribution Partners (DPs) ensures alignment with Guayaki's priorities and expectations, setting the stage for successful execution.
  • Performance Monitoring and Action: Conducting monthly and quarterly planning reviews to assess performance against Business Plans and targets demonstrates a commitment to accountability and drives proactive responses to opportunities and challenges.
  • In-Field Excellence: Regularly participating in DP sales meetings, performing trainings, and conducting market visits showcases an active and hands-on approach to assessing in-store execution and shaping action plans, essential for achieving success.
  • Build a diverse organization that reflects the marketplace; adheres to The Guayaki’s mission, values and inspires team through effective leadership.
  • Ensure the ASL team understands and adheres to Company standards and operating procedures.
  • Drive sales volume and Key Performance Indicator (KPI) targets for each assigned ASL and appropriately manage the execution of these targets. Managing this performance consists of but is not limited to feedback/coaching, corrective counseling, and performance reviews.
  • Establish and maintain regular and on-going communication with retail partners/decision makers to successfully implement national/local programming and ensure high levels of customer service
  • Ensure a safe and clean environment for all ASLs, CSRs and warehouse associates, including inspection of vehicles, monitoring maintenance of equipment, assessing driving behavior, etc.
  • Conduct new hire orientation and training of ASLs
  • Conduct route rides. The primary purpose of the route rides is to train, develop, and evaluate the performance of the CSRs and the executional conditions of his/her market.
  • Ensure Guayaki looks like the #1 yerba mate brand in all accounts and is winning vs. competition
  • Develop ASL’s ability to train established selling process, this will include role plays, overcoming objections, and retail math skills as well as understanding the different buying personalities of decision makers.
  • Conduct weekly ASL/CSR huddles/workshops in groups and 1 on 1’s to improve operational expertise and recognize/reward results.
  • Recruit top talent and participate in hiring process of direct report positions
  • Conduct audits of inventory counts to ensure integrity of information
  • Manage or monitor inventory levels utilizing company processes
  • Review performance metrics and sales data daily
  • Lead the annual Business Planning (BP) process with the DPs to ensure alignment with Guayaki priorities and expectations. 
  • Conduct monthly and quarterly planning reviews to review performance against BP and targets. 
  • Regularly participate in DP sales meetings, perform trainings, and conduct market visits to assess in-store execution and develop action plans against opportunities
  • Oversee DP performance, inclusive of sales volume and in store execution (i.e. perfect store, winning vs. competition, volume targets, etc.) 
  • Analyze market and distributor depletion data to produce insights and support tactics in the market.
  • Manage Point of Sale (POS) materials, coolers, and equipment, including forecasting, ordering, tracking, and delivery of assets to ensure correct deployment of assets in the trade. 
  • Manage implementation of shelf incentive programs in independents and work with local DP-managed Key Accounts.  
  • Serve as go-between with Guayaki’s Key Account (KA) team and DPs to communicate priorities and implement regional and national KA programs.

Here’s what you’ll provide:

  • Bachelor’s degree or a minimum of 5 to 7 years industry related experience
  • Strong leadership skills to provide mentoring, training or corrective feedback
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including being able to prepare presentation materials and present the information one-on-one and in a group
  • Prior managerial experience required a minimum of 5 to 7 Years
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding assigned sales objectives
  • 5+ years’ experience working within CPG beverage industry  
  • Experience within a Direct Store Delivery (DSD) distribution environment  
  • Ability to analyze and leverage data to drive insights to action  
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and DP reporting systems
  • Ability to influence decision makers and confidently lead business reviews and presentations  
  • Ability to teach, coach, and train others on brand standards and salesmanship  
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Word, Power Point, and Excel
  • Demonstrated analytical and organizational skills
  • Understanding of Encompass/VIP data system and other IT systems
  • Must be at least 21 years old

Travel  Requirements:

  • 40% (based on territory/distributor structure) 
  • Field Based: 3 days/week.  Home Office: 2 days/week

The pay range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors; actual pay offered may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations. Sales commissions and/or variable pay plans are also offered depending on the position (ex: monthly, quarterly, annual bonuses).
