Job Title: Demand & Orders Manager

Salary/Grade: £45,348 - £56,684 per annum (depending on experience)

Location: Peterborough (hybrid – 3 days in office)

The opportunity

The Demand & Orders Manager will lead the operational execution of E+ES processes to ensure our production customers receive material on time, and in full. The role will involve extensive engagement with our core supplier base to ensure demand signals are aligned via appropriate collaboration, and in the event of gaps these are fully understood and communicated to our customers and leadership. 

You will manage the relationship with our European 3PL, leading regular KPI reviews and ensuring they are fully prepared to execute core processes, and where required assisting to close any capability gaps via root cause analysis and rectification activities.

What you will do:

  • Work within the E+ES Supply Chain Network management team to ensure we deliver material on time by executing designed processes and ensuring we do this safely and compliantly.

  • Manage critical customer, supplier and logistics relationships.

  • Ensure we have up to date and effective standard work to ensure the robustness of our process execution.

  • Execute import and export processes compliantly.

  • Take an enterprise view of supply chain planning processes and tools, as well as thorough knowledge of customer routes to market and their application, in order to coordinate the efforts of multiple teams across functions and divisions.

  • Support operational activities whilst we are in start-up phase.

  • Work cross-functionally within the Caterpillar enterprise with some team leadership responsibilities.

  • Liaise with process design team to ensure we have effective, executable processes in place.

  • Understanding and experience of core supply chain concepts including material replenishment, stocking policies, MRP, inventory management, shipping and logistics.

  • Understanding of supplier relationship management

  • Understanding of customer relationship management

Demand Management:

Level Extensive Experience:

  • Coordinates daily work of demand management for different locations within a facility or a supply network.

  • Develops, implements and evaluates demand management program goals and KPIs.

  • Participates in establishing procedures for planning, implementing and monitoring demand management strategies.

  • Understanding of enterprise ordering processes – ie SAP, QAD, CBS, OMP, MRC

Effective Communications:

Top candidates will have:

  • Understanding of customs compliance or export controls.

  • Knowledge of storage and shipping of class 9 hazardous goods.

  • Experience of warehouse management – either direct or via 3PL.

  • Understanding of transport processes

Additional information:

  • There is a limited travel requirement for this role at 10%.
