Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector is seeking a Sr. Principal Aircraft Dynamics Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in defining the future.  This position will be located in Melbourne, FL.

The team member will be expected to perform analysis for aeroelastics and aeroservoelastic responses. In addition, the successful candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter and will be proactive, forward-thinking, able to work with a small team to rapid resolution of complex technical loads problems and can convey complex technical problems diplomatically and professionally to both other engineering disciplines and leadership.  The candidate will be able to work well in a team environment and form connections across the myriad of disciplines:  including, but not limited to, flight controls, mass properties, stress, and mechanism teams.  The ideal candidate would have experience working in the advanced development world and would understand the depth of analysis this environment requires.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 8 years of relevant experience; OR Master of Science (MS) in a STEM discipline and 6 years of relevant experience
  • Experience with aeroelastic analysis
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance and Special Access Program (SAP) clearance prior to the commencement of employment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Structural Engineering with an emphasis on aircraft loads (flight loads, ground loads)
  • Active DoD Secret (or higher) clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)
  • Advanced knowledge of detailed ground and flight loads and load mitigation
  • Strong foundation in aeroelastic analysis with a strong foundation in structural dynamics and aerodynamic modeling.
  • Experience in the use of industry standard loads and dynamics analysis software such as NASTRAN, PATRAN, FEMAP, ZONAIR, ZAERO
  • Experience with MATLAB and CAD Tools (NX)

Salary Range: $114,900.00 - $172,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
