As a global leader in consulting, engineering, and commissioning services, we specialize in MEP, information and communication technology, architectural lighting, vertical transportation, and commissioning. 

We are seeking an experienced Supervising Engineer (Mechanical or Electrical) to join our team for a multi-year Resident Engineer assignment in north central Ohio. Your experience working in a consulting/construction firm on data center projects will ensure your success in this role. This role will require the Supervising Engineer to be present at the project site throughout the duration of construction. This resident engineer assignment will approximately start in June of 2025 and will last approximately 2-1/2 years.

Job Responsibilities

 During the resident engineer assignment, you will ensure information flows from the construction team to the Owner’s design team. You will be supporting the Owner, Contractor and other’s performing work by coordinating and facilitating the execution of construction administration obligations through onsite representation to ensure information is exchanged in a timely manner between the A/E team and the contractors, assisting in prioritizing project deliverables to support construction schedules and improve administrative processes to support project needs, and confirming alignment with the Owner’s program.

On-Site Responsibilities:

  • Observations
    • Record weekly Site observations
    • Assist with Site design coordination queries
    • Attend Site inspections of Contractor’s installations
    • Raise and review Site observations, review field issues and non-conformances with Owners, Contractors), OFCI vendors, etc.
  • Site Inspections
    • Review equipment delivered to Site as requested
    • Observation of Contractor’s benchmarks, mock-ups and samples
    • Attend QA/QC factory visits for vendors equipment inspection
  • Document and report findings from factory visit inspections
    • Record and track observations and non-conformance raised during factory visit and inspection
  • Testing
    • Attend all witness testing including all L1 – L5 Cx testing.
    • Meeting attendance: Site design coordination workshops and meeting, OFCI meetings, Cx meetings, and BIM coordination
  • Documentation Support
    • Review and answer queries on site with a goal to reduce RFIs being raised by Contractor
    • Act as A/E POC for Owner on site-specific discipline related design and installation questions

Job Requirements

This is a great opportunity for a Supervising Engineer (Mechanical or Electrical) with on-site construction field experience. You will have the ability to influence the internal and external stakeholders and build onsite relationships, and act as the single point of communication for all of the A/E team’s Services and Deliverables to the Contractor during the construction phase.

Additional requirements:

  • 12+ years of relevant experience in the Mechanical or Electrical field and PE license.
  • Proficient in design and construction document management
  • Proficient in all aspects of construction administration and documentation. 
  • Capable of providing design document review and coordination across multiple design disciplines. 
  • Experience-based knowledge of how to meet Specifications, when it is appropriate or necessary to deviate from Specifications, and when appropriate or necessary, how to deviate from Specifications. 
  • Understanding of the building, fire, mechanical, plumbing and electrical codes 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to facilitate communication with Owner’s personnel, A/E team’s Consultants and Contractor’s staff.
  • Capable of working in the field on large construction sites to perform construction observation and other construction phase Services safely and independently.
  • Flexible and able to adapt quickly to changing priorities of Owner’s onsite construction management team.

The salary range listed below is for this particular job posting.  Actual pay range for candidates will be commensurate with candidate’s experience, skillsets and competencies and may differ based on the cost of labor in their particular location.
