What is Graduate Researcher Program?
The GRP (Graduate Researcher Program) is a unique 10-12 week internship program designed specifically for students pursuing their PhD. GRP is a hybrid experience of real-world industry work experience combined with development programming that exposes students to Boeing, its products and services and its people. GRP focuses on deeply connecting students to their team and Boeing through repeated work experience across multiple summers with the goal to ultimately offer a full-time position at the conclusion of academic studies if a mutual fit is achieved.
How GRP Works:
Upon application and selection, successful applicants are matched with an intern experience and team related to their area of expertise. The program aims to provide interns with a valuable opportunity to gain deeper experience at Boeing and with their assigned team, while also utilizing academic skills and expertise to help solve real-world industry challenges and opportunities.
In addition to industry work exposure, GRP students will attend GRP programming to extend their experience and knowledge at Boeing. GRP programming includes: mentorship in your field of study, weekly Featured Speaker Talks, a week-long in-person GRP Summit, participation in an Innovation Challenge, and other opportunities to interact and build a professional network with other GRP students, Boeing team members, and leadership.
Please note: The work you do at Boeing can be related to your area of study, but will not contribute to the work in your PhD thesis.

We are seeking students who will have completed their first year of study in their PhD program by July 2025 and are passionate about the aerospace industry and Boeing. GRP students excel at quickly adapting to their roles, analyzing complex problems, and developing innovative solutions. They thrive in collaborative team environments and possess excellent communication skills. Above all, they are driven to contribute to the success of their team, fellow GRP students, and Boeing.
As applied mathematicians, we lead in evaluating, creating and applying mathematical algorithms and tools to incorporate emerging technology into innovative products and services. Join us and put your passion, determination, and skill to work building the future!
The successful candidate will serve as a technical consultant and researcher and will develop solutions and work across the enterprise in the area of operations research. The tasks performed will be to develop solutions and software to solve complex problems supporting current research and consulting needs.
We are looking for candidates with the ability to evaluate resources to solve mathematical problems, assist with research, develop solutions and implement algorithms in code, and communicate to technical and non-technical audiences.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
Travel: 0 – 10%
This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications for all positions (Required Skill/Experience):
The ability to work a minimum of 10 weeks (12 weeks preferred) during the summer of 2025.
Pursuing PhD in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
Graduate research and/or experience working in a role that required operations research, including discrete optimization, discrete event simulation, stochastic modeling and optimization, inventory optimization, and/or computational math focused on Operations Research applications.
Strong software programming skills and experience of programming languages such as Python, Matlab, Java, C, or C++.
Completed the first year of your PhD studies by July 2025.
Preferred Qualifications:
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to adapt to changing environments and work statements.
Ability to work on multidisciplinary teams and a strong desire to work with technical and non-technical audiences and be a self-starter.
Passion to develop operations research methods in research & development and apply operations research to develop industrial solutions.

Summary pay range: $76,000 - $88,000
