What to expect

  • Together with the rest of the strategy team you will help us define Swift’s ambition as a central infrastructure than can empower an inclusive digital economy.

In this role you will:

  • Contribute to the design, continuous improvement and iteration of our evolving market and client strategy through an in depth understanding of the challenges facing i. the eco system, ii. the needs and iii. market and competition dynamics
  • Think beyond what’s possible today, set a strategy for the future and act as an advisor and strategic consultant to other Swift teams.
  • Help define our proposition for our client segments including financial institutions, corporates, and retail end clients and across payments, securities, FX, trade and digital assets in terms of our value to them and how we help them deliver value to their client base in turn.
  • Support strategic projects that drive client improvements with their end clients to drive better end to end solutions. Projects range from new market entry, landscape mapping opportunities to pilot, iterate and deliver joint value propositions with partners, growth/turnaround, commercial due diligence, rapid value creation and organisation transformation.
  • Coordinate and engage in liaisons and contacts with internal/external stakeholders (with business development for recommending annual objectives, with customers, vendors, industry groups to understand their needs and goals and to address specific issues).
  • Engagement with actors across the ecosystem, with clients including financial institutions, fintech companies, market infrastructures, corporates to augment strategic insights and assist in strategic validation and decision making. Represent Swift in industry events, working groups and conferences.

  • Keep abreast with trends in the industry, articulate the impact and opportunities for Swift and share information with other parts of the company.
  • Be the guardian and forward thinker of the Swift strategy, ensuring a consistent, cohesive, central message is communicated both internally and externally.
  • Ensure all internal stakeholders are a part of the strategic process, bringing them along for the ride and ensuring you have their support.
  • Work with product, corporate office and business development to ensure alignment towards the overarching Swift strategy and support communication to the market.
  • Contribute to other pieces of work within banking, payments and trade strategy team (market analysis, comms and events, governance, customer consultations and the wider strategy as required.
  • Where necessary support the strategy team in terms of the delivery of thought leadership, innovation sprints, experiments, etc.

We are seeking professionals with: 

  • University degree.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a consultancy, strategy, market management or relationship role
  • Experience in at least one of payments, transaction banking and/or trade ecosystems; particularly experience within one or more of the following: financial institutions, central banks, market infrastructures, fintech providers.
  • Experience of working in the strategic function of a financial services, fintech or consultancy organisation.
  • Experience of presenting to, and interacting with senior stakeholders.
  • Experience in building relationships and gaining the trust of the industry.
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Proven ability to coherently communicate a vision and make it come to life.
