The GIS Operations and Project Manager (Geospatial) plays a crucial role in managing our geospatial data and systems, ensuring they effectively support critical decision-making and project execution. Job Description:

GIS Operations Management:

  • Oversee the daily operations of our GIS systems, including software, hardware, data maintenance, and user support.

  • Develop and enforce GIS data standards, ensuring the accuracy, currency, and integrity of our geospatial information.

  • Develop and deliver GIS training programs to empower users across the organization.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve GIS technical issues in a timely and efficient manner.

Geospatial Project Management:

  • Lead the planning, execution, and monitoring of GIS-related projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

  • Define project scope, develop detailed timelines, manage budgets, allocate resources, and communicate status to stakeholders.

  • Work closely with internal teams and external consultants to collect geospatial data, develop custom applications, and implement GIS solutions.

  • Ensure projects are completed within established timelines, budgets, and quality standards.

Data Management and Analysis:

  • Develop and implement strategies for acquiring, managing, and integrating geospatial data from various sources (e.g., remote sensing, GPS, public data).

  • Conduct spatial analysis using GIS tools to generate insights, maps, and visualizations that support strategic decision-making.

  • Maintain strict data security and confidentiality protocols.

Team Collaboration and Communication:

  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders across the organization, understanding their geospatial needs and providing tailored solutions.

  • Effectively communicate complex geospatial concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior GIS staff, fostering professional development.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in GIS operations, project management, and data analysis.

  • Technical Skills:

  • Extensive knowledge of ArcGIS software suite (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, etc.) and related geospatial technologies.

  • Proficiency in database management, spatial analysis techniques, and geospatial data formats.

  • Experience with Python scripting or other programming languages for GIS automation is a plus.

  • Project Management: Proven track record of successfully managing complex GIS projects. PMP certification is highly advantageous.

  • Communication and Collaboration: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present geospatial information to diverse audiences.
