Les institutions financières, telles que les banques et les sociétés d'assurances, jouent un rôle primordial dans la vie de tous. Par exemple, elles prennent nos dépôts et assurent nos vies et nos biens, ainsi que ceux de nos proches. C’est pourquoi leur réglementation est essentielle, y compris pour protéger les droits des déposants et des assurés. Au Canada, la Loi sur les banques et la Loi sur les sociétés d’assurances sont intégrales au cadre réglementaire qui a comme un de ses objets cette protection. Le cours, qui se veut à la fois théorique et pratique, examinera les sources constitutionnelles de ces lois, leur contenu et leur mise en application à des cas hypothétiques. La Section de common law veut recruter des professeur(e)s à temps partiel qui sont des leaders dans la profession juridique. Pour ce cours, un LL.B ou J.D. (ou son équivalent) est nécessaire. Le candidat ou la candidate doit aussi être membre en bonne et due forme du Barreau de l’Ontario (ou son équivalent). Il ou elle doit aussi avoir une expérience significative dans la pratique du droit en matière de réglementation des institutions financières, y compris en matière de développement législatif et de politique.
