The Northrop Grumman Military Internship Program (NG-MIP) is an approved SkillBridge Program under Dept. of Defense Instruction 1322.29 .The NG-MIP program is an opportunity for transitioning service members to gain valuable civilian work experience through an individual internship during their last 6 months of service, for up to 180 days. The Northrop Grumman Military internship Program is open to all ranks and experience levels. SkillBridge participants are not eligible for compensation from Northrop Grumman, as they continue to receive military compensation and benefits as active-duty service members.

Responsibilities for this internship position are:

Northrop Grumman Corporation (NGC) has developed the Northrop Grumman – Military Internship Program (DoD SkillBridge) utilizing the DoDI guidance for SkillBridge. During this program the service member will be on-site at his or her host company performing an individual internship in an entry to mid-level career type role. The service member will be on the job training supporting a work schedule equivalent to 40hrs per week. Outlined below are the Goals, Objectives, and Outcomes for the program.

Goals – Provide transitioning service members fellowship-style job skills training during the last portion(s) of their military commitment. This program is specifically designed to offer internships that result in the potential to transition to a full-time opportunity as the conclusion of the training. Interns will serve as a pipeline for high-speed, motivated military candidates into NGC.

Objectives - Service Members who complete the Intern program will be highly-trained, capable, future employees that align to the specific needs of the organization and are prepared to meet the NG mission “Defining Possible” on Day 1. This program provides a comprehensive internship experience including professional development, networking with leadership, and training specifically focused on NG leadership principles, company history, customer/stakeholder engagement, product and service overview, and core job responsibilities.

Outcome – Offer transitioning service member a rewarding opportunity to join the Northrop Grumman team.

DoD SkillBridge Eligibility:

* Has served at least 180 days on active duty

* Is within 12 months of separation or retirement

* Will receive an honorable discharge

* Has taken any service TAPS/TGPS

* Has attended or participated in an ethics brief within the last 12 months

* Received Unit Commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) written authorization and approval to participate in DoD SkillBridge Program prior to start of internship.

In this role, you will oversee the operational aspects of engineering tests and serves as and is responsible for managing the design, development, and implementation of new lab capabilities, in addition to the planning, operations and maintenance of the NATO AGS lab. The position requires technical knowledge of various systems, design, development, implementation, and testing with a strong foundation in laboratory integration and test. The selected candidate must act with speed, guide others in producing quality work, be self-motivated, and have the ability to communicate complex technical issues and solutions. A successful track record of program performance, and test experience is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Driving process rigor, ensure compliance to meet company, program, and security requirements
  • Driving technical and process rigor for lab configuration
  • Tracking leading indicator technical metrics to detect and prevent issues
  • Ensure lab assets meet test requirements for formal testing
  • Continually coordinate lab status and issues and solutions with the IPT and across IPTs
  • Continually seek to improve lab integration & test engineering rigor and efficiency
  • Ensure CRs are properly reviewed for Lab cost & schedule impacts
  • Support proposal activities

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Sr Principal Project Management position to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals.  This position will be located in Clearfield, UT.

The Project Manager/Principal Project Manager will be a member for the Affordability team ensuring the programs is successful in achieving our manufacturing cost and schedule targets through a variety of technical and administrative process improvements. 

This position is responsible for decomposing top-level program cost targets, assigning targets to the appropriate IPT, working with the IPTs to identify and implement cost reduction opportunities to meet the cost targets, and tracking progress to the targets.

Strong leadership, communication, and analytic skills are essential for success in this position. The successful candidate will coordinate with Manufacturing Personnel and Multiple Engineering Functions to identify, characterize, estimate, and propose efforts that will reduce cost and increase efficiency.

The position requires an understanding of life-cycle cost, schedule, risk, and affordability implications of alternatives under consideration.  The position requires ability to develop and oversee tradeoffs of requirements, design, performance, cost, and schedule to address affordability constraints. The position is responsible for encouraging and facilitating active participation of the broader stakeholder community and decision makers in exploring alternatives to achieve program affordability.

This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below. This position is contingent on DoD Secret Security Clearance and Special Access Program clearance.

Basic Qualifications for Principal Project Management:

  • Bachelor's Degree with 8 years of business experience or master’s degree with 6 years of related experience. An additional 4 years of related work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Must be able to attain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance and Special Program Access (PAR/SAP) within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Aerospace background
  • CAM Certified
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance
  • Active Program Access
  • Have experience developing cost research models and cost risks analysis for complex systems aerospace systems
  • Have experience in performing cost estimating activities such as cost analysis, statistical analysis, WBS development, and risk analysis
  • Experience working with data visualization software (e.g., MS Excel including macros, Tableau Desktop, QlikView, MS Power BI, etc.) or any other data analysis software applications
  • Experience with data mining/analytics programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, or BA
  • Experience using Microsoft Office suite of tools
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills across multiple levels

Salary Range: $95,000.00 - $142,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
