THE ROLE

Key responsibilities

The Network Engineer is a vital role within Agilisys and this role will play an integral part in ensuring the stability and efficient operation of our client's IT environment and requirements.

Specific duties

Depending on the project, you will need to be comfortable doing the following:

  • Perform all activities associated with the network infrastructure and telecommunications services.
  • Follow national and industry standards during implementations and running of the service.
  • Asset Configuration Management.
  • Delivery of services provided in accordance with performance requirements and in line with resolution times against KPIs and SLAs.
  • Provide appropriate responses to incidents, service requests and change requests.
  • Managing customer expectations including feedback to and from customers.
  • Own and ensure that system administration and status monitoring processes are maintained and followed
  • Perform all activities associated with the network infrastructure and communications services.
  • Responsible for technical hardware/software /cabling, bandwidth engineering, configuration planning, administration, and support of data and voice communications networks, including facilities planning.
  • Work with the Technical lead and other teams across the business, to provide a stable and managed network infrastructure.
  • Establish manage and maintain successful relationship with third part service providers. To continually seek ways to improve service provided to the client by third parties.
  • Carry out preventative maintenance and systems monitoring as defined by operating standards.
  • Implementing new initiatives and future changes in service delivery, specifically related to corporate priority projects.
  • Ensure timely user notification of maintenance requirements and effects on system availability.
  • Inclusion onto the on-call rota.

The Ideal Candidate

  • The ability to work as part of a team under instruction but also to be able to operate alone using your own initiative.
  • A natural enthusiasm for technology and the ability to learn and apply knowledge and techniques quickly and accurately.
  • Working knowledge of SDA WAN and LAN technologies and deployments.
  • Experience of Cisco hardware is desirable.
  • Deployment, configuration and management of Cisco switches, Palo Alto and Checkpoint Firewalls.
  • Cisco Wi-Fi or similar, provisioning APs, surveying new sites, monitoring and improving service.
  • Mitel IP Telephony & SIP Trunks is advantageous.
  • TCP/IP - IP, LAN to LAN VPN and SSL VPN configuration, Cat 6 and Fibre structured cabling, capacity planning. Secure WAN configuration across multiple sites.
  • Technical documentation.
  • Server skills such as VMware, Exchange and Microsoft Server are advantageous.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication skills and client facing skills at various levels.
  • Undertake necessary learning and relevant examinations.
  • Understands current trends in the market.
  • Flexibility. The role will involve spending time working at clients' sites.
  • Knowledge of circuit provisioning, testing and troubleshooting.
  • Provide a customer focussed service within a managed service contract environment - customer/supplier relationship.
  • Work to and be managed against agreed contractual service level agreements (SLA's) and Key performance Indicators (KPI's).
  • Adherence and compliance to individual IT performance targets and measurements based on service and ticket management using ITSM toolset (currently Hornbill).
  • Conformance to standard ITIL v3 and V4 functions i.e. Incident Management, Change, Problem etc.
  • Agree and follow the designated IT call management procedure.
