Job Description:

The Senior Counsel, Litigation is responsible for managing all aspects of the Company’s litigation, claims, and alternative dispute resolution portfolio, involving tort, real property, construction, business, labor and employment, and environmental law matters. The Senior Counsel, Litigation will have the proven ability to manage outside counsel, coordinate discovery and case preparation, and work closely with claims and risk management personnel to deliver business-focused legal services on a range of complex litigation and pre-litigation matters. The position is located in San Jose, CA.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Litigation Management: Support the Company and its affiliates in all phases of civil litigation and claims related matters, including case assessment, litigation strategy, and discovery; coordinate litigation and insurance coverage matters with Risk Management, internal stakeholders, and outside counsel; track and manage matters.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Support the Company’s compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including pre-litigation advice and counseling.

  • ·Training and Education: Develop and present training to internal clients on a wide range of legal and compliance issues, from beginning to advanced levels, as well as Company policies and procedures.

  • Risk Management: Identify and advise on potential legal and regulatory risks, communicate with leadership and internal stakeholders about potential and ongoing disputes, and develop strategies to avoid and mitigate risk.

  • Perform other similar duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from accredited law school

  • Admitted in California  

  • Eight (8+) Years of experience with a focus on complex civil litigation

  • Ability to work in a team-oriented and a matrixed environment

  • Ability to work independently

  • Ability to build trust and influence high-level decision making

  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think strategically and provide sound business judgment

  • Strong ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

  • Accountable and result-driven

  • Strong presentation and written and oral communication skills

  • Advanced use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint

  • Valid Driver License 

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Expertise in employment or environmental law matters

  • Experience in utility industry

Salary Range: $144,000 - $261,400
