Job Description:

This position requires to drive the Hong Kong Disneyland (HKDL) business development in Shenzhen market, including growing existing HKDL Wholesalers (WS), developing new Disney-compliant WS to capture business potentials in the region, and establishing Shenzhen based MICE business that brings incremental revenue to HKDL

This position will be in charge of the development and implementation of the Shenzhen/Semi-local Business Development strategy, with in-depth understanding of the market trend, strong connection with local travel trade partners and effective collaboration with stakeholders internally and externally. This position will work as an important contributor in HKDL Semi-local task force, representing China Business Development team to work with Marketing, Distribution Marketing, CPA, RMA and other LOBs, sharing strategic inputs from travel trade perspective and contributing to HKDL’s overall success in Shenzhen/Semi-local.

One of the key responsibility is to complete China MICE business planning, with  focus on insurance, consumer goods, banking, Internet/technology and other  big corporates in the region , tailor  independent MICE products for China market, establish strong network  and drive incremental business to HKDL especially during shoulder seasons. The position will need to develop a working model to lead team members to run MICE and BS&E business, manage customers and achieve targets. He/She is accountable for BS&E Sales team supervision and motivation, in order to drive desired business results from the corporate meetings/conferences, events, social catering and group admissions segments.  Responsible for formulation of business development strategy, accurate forecasting and execution of key sales initiatives.  This includes overseeing account acquisition, retention and expansion programs, within the corporate, social and association markets. Upkeep of product line, to ensure market relevance and generate demand from all relevant channels. 

Coach team members to improve business skills: MICE agents management skills, sales skills and negotiation skills. And develop team members to become experts in promoting travel products and customer management. At the same time, improve business development skills and customer management capabilities.

Another key accountability is to sustain and continue elevating the profile of HKDL, as the premier MICE events destination in Asia, through increased acquisition and development of high-end, mega events.

Cooperate with the Director of Business Development in China to actively contribute to the overall business in China.

Formulation of business development strategy, accurate forecasting and execution of key sales initiatives. Lead the team through the annual plan for SZ/Semi-local business development, including tickets and hotel room sales,also the dedicated MICE products

Build dedicated MICE team in SZ and develop dedicated agents for MICE business to capture new opportunity.  Accountable for BS&E Sales team supervision and motivation, in order to drive desired business results from the corporate meetings/conferences, events, social catering and group admissions segments. 

Develop programs to conduct regular trade education for trade partners with the assistance of direct or indirect reports. Prepare written reports, updated account information, trade and competitors’ intelligence to Director, Business Development, China and leaders.

Coach and develop direct and indirect reports’ capability in planning and execution of trade projects.  Establish KPI to measure team’s performance.

This position requires a good foundation in travel trade industry, especially the knowledge and connection in Shenzhen market, he/she should also have strong business sense in MICE business with experience to partner with  airlines, hotels, and large-scale event exhibition companies. And has a good industry foundation and relationship, can quickly develop independent MICE agents for business development.

At the same time, it is necessary to develop corporate direct customers, develop corporate in-house purchases and employee team building markets, increase off-season business in resort areas, and form business increments.

The position requires strong commercial sense and good negotiation skills to manage a portfolio of trade accounts across multiple sales regions. It involves relatively high complexity in dealing with scarce resource allocation - balancing cost and benefit between the company and travel agents, motivating the trade in a sustainable manner with the ultimate goal of delivering results that in-line with the expectations.  The job holder should have strong time management skills to ensure timely delivery, highly task-oriented and can work under continuous business pressure

The performance of the job holder has significant impact on both revenue (measured in admission and room-night) from his or her responsible sales regions as well as relationship/reputation of the company, as he/she is required to regularly represent HKDL at trade related events, with frequent presentations and briefings to the trade industry.

Externally, the job holder has frequent interaction with owners or key management of given trade accounts. Interpersonal skills of negotiation, relating and building rapport are of utmost importance. Internally, he/she has to work frequently with other cross functions including Distribution Marketing on trade promotional projects, Business Development on new product initiatives, Sales Services and Finance team on routine operational issues, TWDC offices on driving business from respective sales region according to specific market needs.

The job holder has sizable autonomy on all account management activities that fall into his/her MICE agents, such as the deployment of co-op advertisement budget, internal resources allocation, specific trade product or promotions launch, trade education arrangement, outstanding account settlements etc…

Fluent Mandarin is necessary to perform this job to communicate both external partners and members of MICE agents.  Regular Chinese domestic business travel is expected for this role.
