Your New Role…
The Field Operations Supervisor is the principal leader of the Field Operations Desk in the newsroom, with direct oversight of staffing Field Production assignments. In collaboration with newsgathering and programming leadership, Image+Sound managers, and production partners, you will arrange for the most strategic and efficient manner of coverage, identifying problems and developing solutions.

News breaks at all hours of the day, night and on weekends. A Supervisor role requires schedule flexibility and adaptability to reflect changing priorities in a breaking news world.

The Daily

The Field Operations Supervisor will oversee DC-based Field Production assignments with newsgathering and programming leadership, Image+Sound managers and production partners in the most strategic and efficient manner possible, ensuring that department personnel have the necessary information, equipment and skills to provide the highest quality, creative newsgathering and programming possible.

The Field Production Supervisor is responsible for all aspects of asset maintenance and inventory tracking. The Field Production Supervisor will partner with WMPE to ensure that maintenance protocols are adhered to, and to ensure that all DC Field Production assets are always meticulously accounted for.

In coordination with other members of the Field Production management team, the Field Production Supervisor will track, document and report the use and status of all personnel. Responsibilities include daily staffing, PTO approval, allocation, payroll review, and other recordkeeping for the department.

Ensures production and teamwork standards of CNN are being upheld through ongoing quality control, feedback, and coaching.

Technical Project Management.  The Supervisor will lead or participate in technical projects and departmental teams as directed.

Qualifications & Experience…

  • Minimum of 3 of years of newsroom experience and/or supervisor in the field of News Production or equivalent industry.  Well versed in all aspects of field and/or postproduction, media management/file-based production.
  • Understands and is aware of the news of the day and current events to be responsive and proactive of newsgathering and editorial priorities, story ideas and futures by working closely with the Newsroom management. Will recommend staff for assignments and manage scheduling of staff as necessary.
  • High level organizational skills, ability to prioritize and communicate effectively in a fast-paced news environment.
  • The Field Operations Supervisor is on-call 24x7 and is expected to respond to all business-related communication in a timely fashion.
  • Must possess a valid US driver’s license.
  • Must be accredited to work in the United States.

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery’s total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $63,000.00 - $117,000.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and sick time and vacation.
