Job Description:
Data Risk Management defines expectations and provides challenge on data management, governance, and risk mitigation activities in support of TD’s data strategy. This is underpinned by our vision, guiding principles, and strategic imperatives, serving as a compass that directs the work we do and we are looking for transformative leaders to help us make that happen!
This position will support the oversight of US Data Risk and the management of the Regulatory, Risk and Board Reporting Communications in the US. The role will be responsible for providing guidance and oversight to ensure alignment with TD Bank Group programs, policies, and standards and particularly processes that support articulation of the risk profile and trend.
The Manager Group Risk leads and develops a team of Risk professionals who provide oversight, advisory services and act as an oversight function related to TD's enterprise/operational Risk programs. Acts as a thought leader for all risk-related activities. May also oversee a team of specialized project support or services within Risk Management. Provides effective challenge, oversight, and risk intelligence behaviors and outcomes, while operating within the Bank's risk appetite.

- Provides people management leadership by hiring the best talent, setting goals, developing staff, managing employee performance and compensation decisions, promoting teamwork and handling any/all disciplinary actions, as required
- Leads and manages a sizeable team of professionals and overall operation of a diverse group in an area of moderate risk, complexity or scope, while growing talent, developing skills and capabilities to achieve career goals, support project/initiative success and achieve business results
- Ability to present and make recommendations to senior management and executives
- Ensures an integrated approach with other business areas, broader organization, and enterprise as appropriate
- Coordinates and prioritizes multiple initiatives and manages resource allocation
- Establishes effective relationships with different Stakeholders, Business Sponsors, Executives and LOB
- Provides support and contributes to the overall discipline and strategy for respective areas
- Provides coaching, mentorship and guidance to practitioners, business, executives within area of expertise
- Deep knowledge and understanding of businesses/technology, and organizational practices/disciplines
- Sound to advanced knowledge of external competition, industry and/or market trends in relation to own function/business
- Focuses on short to medium-term issues (e.g. 6-12 months)
Education & Experience:
- Undergraduate degree or technical certificate and/or
- 7+ years relevant experience
- Advanced knowledge of multiple risk management disciplines, strategies, regulations, controls, operating environment, consulting principles, procedures and processes
- Knowledge of risk management environment, standards, regulations and mitigation
- Knowledge of current and emerging competitor and market trends
- Advanced ability to lead, plan, implement, and evaluate program / project activities to ensure completion of initiatives
- Ability to contribute to strategic direction of the function and provide trusted and reliable advice to senior leadership
- Skill in talent development and performance management
- Skill in preparing and managing budgets and resource allocation
- Ability to make an impact, influence, and achieve results with effective negotiation, problem-solving, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:
- In-depth understanding of data governance best practices and industry trends.
- Strong experience in the creation and oversight of Board, Risk and Regulatory Reporting
- Strong communications background

- Excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to present ideas and facilitate discussions to build consensus to a broad range of stakeholders
- Creative and analytical thinker

- Strong organizational and prioritization skills
- Previous experience in roles with cross-border mandates is an asset
- Experience with enterprise-wide initiatives preferred
- Experience collaborating with Senior Executives, regulators & cross-border stakeholders preferred

Customer Accountabilities:
- Manages a team of Risk professionals providing oversight and control related advisory services to Risk partners
- Provides guidance, leadership, coaching and development to ensure operational results and professional/personal development objectives are achieved
- Works with executive team, senior business management/partners to develop proactive strategies, tactics, policies and programs to effectively manage regulatory/compliance issues
- Acts as key liaison with partners and external groups and provides Risk subject matter expertise; partners, as necessary, effectively with key stakeholder groups such as Compliance, Legal, Audit, AML
- Coaches to ensure functional/operational problems are handled appropriately, and participates in the negotiation and resolution of complex and/or escalated issues, where necessary
- Leads and develops Risk enterprise-wide frameworks, policies, standards, procedures in coordination with management in line with TD’s Risk Program
- Participates in/Manages global regulatory examinations and external/internal audits with respect to request for information
- Takes corrective action and recommends or implements changes to procedures, as required
Shareholder Accountabilities:
- Ensures team adheres to enterprise frameworks and methodologies related to overall business management activities
- Leads relationships with corporate and/or oversight functions to ensure alignment with enterprise and/or regulatory requirements
- Supports team in staying knowledgeable on emerging issues, trends and evolving regulatory requirements and assesses potential impacts to the Bank
- Assesses/identifies key issues and escalates to appropriate levels and relevant stakeholders and business management where required
- Identifies, mitigates and reports on risk issues per enterprise policy/guidance and ensures appropriate escalation processes are followed
- Ensures business operations are in compliance with applicable internal and external requirements (e.g. financial controls, segregation of duties, transaction approvals and physical control of assets)
- Leads relationships with business lines/corporate and/or oversight functions to ensure alignment with enterprise and/or regulatory requirements
- Leads or contribute to cross-functional/enterprise initiatives as an organizational or subject matter expert helping to identify risk/provide guidance for complex situations
- Protects the interests of the organization – identifies and manages risks, and escalates non-standard, high risk transactions/activities as necessary
- Manages oversight process, risk-based identification and monitoring of related risks and regulatory compliance across the supported functions, while ensuring key controls and processes are effectively managed
- Oversees or leads the facilitation and/or implementation of action/remediation plans to address performance/risk/governance issues
- Keeps abreast of emerging issues, trends, and evolving regulatory requirements and assesses potential impacts
- Maintains a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective processes in alignment with risk appetite
