We are looking for you to join our team as a Staff Systems Engineer to join our Emerging Capabilities Development (ECD) Organization. The ECD organization within Northrop Grumman Mission Systems pushes the boundaries of innovation, redefines the leading edge of exotic new technologies, and drives advances in the sciences. You will work on a multidisciplinary team working on digital multi-function RF systems development and testing to include Radar and Electronic Warfare (EW) applications. This position is based out of Linthicum, MD and will be 100% on-site.
What You’ll get to Do:
Develop software defined, hardware enabled systems to meet warfighter needs.
Provide Systems Engineering guidance for formal Verification and Validation, including flight test planning and execution.
Collaborate with peers and other engineering disciplines in the planning, design, and prototyping of complex mixed-signal systems.
Provide technical solutions to a wide range of complex and difficult problems.
Complete tasks according to schedule, budget, cost, design objectives and requirements.
Work under general direction to independently determine and develop viable solutions.
This position is contingent upon contract award, the successful transfer of an active DoD Secret Clearance and ability to obtain/maintain special program access (SAP).
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree with 12 years of experience, master's degree with 10 years of experience or Ph.D. with 8 years of experience in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or related technical fields; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
U.S Citizenship is required.
A current / active DoD Secret Clearance.
Ability to obtain/maintain Special Access Program (SAP) access
5 years of experience in developing and deriving requirements, and at least 3 years of experience in system integration, testing, and validation for complex systems.
3 years of experience developing embedded firmware and software, with proficiency in C, C++, and MATLAB, demonstrated through at least 3 completed projects.
3 years of hands-on experience using modeling tools and software, with proficiency in at least 2 different tools, such as MATLAB Simulink, Stateflow, or similar.
3 years of experience working with Electro-Optical/Infrared (EOIR) systems and technologies, contributed to at least 2 projects involving the design or integration of EOIR systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degrees in Science, Technology, Engineer, or Mathematics or other related technical fields.
Active DoD Top Secret Clearance or higher.
Familiarity with at least 3 machine learning techniques or AI fundamentals, demonstrated through participation in 2 or more projects utilizing these concepts.
3 years of experience in flight testing, with involvement in at least 5 flight test campaigns or projects, contributing to test planning, execution, and data analysis.
4 years of experience in technical leadership positions, successfully leading multidisciplinary teams of 5 or more members on projects with budgets exceeding $1 million.
Proven track record of strong communication skills, including experience giving at least 5 technical presentations to internal and external customers, with positive feedback on clarity and effectiveness.
