As a data engineering intern, you will work with the Energy team to provide actionable data to hundreds of Comcast-colleagues around the country to help them control our energy consumption.
Role Description
Would you like to be part of an energetic (no pun intended) and dynamic team of professionals committed to helping Comcast minimize our environmental impacts? As a data engineering intern, you will sit at the intersection of data and action. The Energy team builds tools that measure performance, reduce waste, and provide visibility into opportunities to continuously improve.
In your role, you will support development activities that inform operations. Trace defects through a cutting-edge service oriented architecture to find root cause. Develop scripts and utilities to automate data collection, perform quality assurance checks, and share learnings with the team.
You’ll be working with the best and brightest minds in Comcast while we continue to improve energy efficiency and progress toward carbon neutrality. Success in this role is characterized by a higher speed to market, integration with supporting teams/tools, and impeccable quality.
Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Codes software applications to adhere to designs supporting internal business requirements or external customers. Standardizes the quality assurance procedure for software.
Automate tasks to improve efficiency and quality
Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision.
Monitor and maintain operational readiness of applications.
Configure and test changes to system including reports, security access, and workflow. Perform/Coordinate configuration changes to the production environment.
Work closely with BA/QA team members to create test plans and ensure that issues are properly identified, fixed, and tested.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Preferred Skills
Has knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures within IT Development field.
Ability to work in a collaborative environment and work with other team members on coding practices, design principles, and implementation patterns that lead to high-quality maintainable solutions.
Skills in implementation building highly scalable services (SOAP and REST)
Skilled at building modern REST Web services
Knowledge in scripting languages such as Python and Java
Knowledge in API/web-based services
A certain degree of creativity and latitude required. Typically reports to a project leader or manager.
Preferred Majors: Computer Science, Data Analytics, Engineering
Minimum Qualifications and Eligibility Requirements
Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree from a United States-based college or university
Rising Junior or Rising Senior only (must have a graduation date between Winter 2025- Spring 2027)
Returning to degree-program (for at least a semester) after the completion of the summer internship (meaning, student must be returning to school for Fall 2025 semester before graduating)
Available to work 40 hours per week over the course of the summer program- June 2 through August 15, 2025
Authorized to work in the United States with no current or future sponsorship needs
Available to report in-person to the work location on the job posting (unless virtual offering)

Compensation
Base Pay: $32.00Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Comcast provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work.
