Job Description
 

Gilead's mission is to discover, develop, and deliver therapies that will improve the lives of patients with life-threatening illnesses worldwide.  As the The Senior Director, Market Access Systems & Process Excellence reports to the Executive Director, Market Access Operations (MAO). This is a new and critical role within the US Market Access organization and is responsible for overseeing MAO Process and Systems Excellence and membership management.  This role works across the Market Access organization to identify, develop, implement, and maintain best-in-class processes and systems. As Gilead continues to grow into new therapeutic areas, this role is pivotal to scale for efficiencies, to meet our enterprise financial targets and future business growth in compliance with timelines, laws and regulations, GP methodologies, and all applicable Company policies and guidelines. 

The position includes but may not be limited to the following: 

Responsibility for membership and roster management, class of trade, and end-to-end processes within MAO and serving as the business IT Lead for Market Access, IT systems for Revenue Management, Contracting Lifecycle Management and Regulatory Pricing compliance are critical to the success of Market Access. This role is the business owner for each of these systems.  

Additionally, this role will work closely with other Market Access Operations teams, Market Access Strategy Teams, IT, and Finance on ensuring optimal end-to-end system and business processes.   
 

Work location: Foster City, CA (in-office 3 days a week)

Responsibilities Include:  

  • Leads the Contracting Process Excellence team. Plays a leadership role in annual and long-range strategic and tactical plans for all Market Access Operations.   

  • Creates vision and blueprint and executes on that vision for the Contracting Process Excellence Team.   

  • Develops detailed long-term operational system and process roadmaps for Market Access Operations that allow the team to scale for efficiency and growing business needs. 

  • Responsible for the membership management team, and accurate and timely customer data from that team 

  • Monitors cross-functional Contracting operations to ensure process/system integrity and effective and scalable processes. 

  • Works closely with Compliance lead and others to monitor and ensure overall data quality, process, and system compliance  

  • Manages/leads all end-to-end activities related to the development, implementation and maintenance of effective Contracting processes and systems.  

  • Responsible for subject matter expertise in processes, systems and reporting tools used for contract development, government contracting, calculations, pricing, and contract operations. 

  • Develops the business case and related presentations for Market Access Operation process or system solutions and supports prioritization of such solutions to MAO Leadership. 

  • Develops materials to train and educate team members and others outside of the department. 

Basic Qualifications:  

Bachelor's Degree and 14 Years' Experience 

OR 

Masters' Degree and 12 Years' Experience 

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Excellent understanding of Pharma Revenue Management Systems and Market Access Process landscape 

  • Demonstrated prior strong Enterprise Systems and Process Improvement results  

  • Ability to challenge the status quo and navigate internal organization/processes, mobilize key stakeholders and engage colleagues.  

  • Strong communication skills with executive-level presence and ability to communicate complex systems and processes to senior level leaders

  • Proven Leader who has managed high performing teams 

  • Highly resourceful and process-oriented individual with operational rigor and strong project management capabilities  

  • Demonstrated consistent cross-functional collaborator and business partner, directly contributing to teams to achieve overall objectives 

  • Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative, and innovative high-growth environment 

  • Broad understanding of US healthcare environment and the payer/reimbursement space.   

  • General understanding of gross-to-net (GTN) and key drivers  

  • Track record of growing responsibility with broad exposure to multiple functions 

  • High proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel 

  • Foster City-based and willing to travel as needed

The salary range for this position is: $237,660.00 - $307,560.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
