Department Overview

To provide high quality and high value support services to customers within the Queensland GWN radio network.

To maintain a strong working relationship with customers, internal stakeholders and sub-contractors to provide maximum exposure to operational issues and priorities.


Job Description

The Subscriber Technical Officer works closely with the following within Qld GWN radio network:

  • Technicians, engineers, material management and quality control personnel

  • Operations and service delivery managers

  • Call centre operatives

  • Subcontractor representatives

  • Customer representatives

Key Tasks:

  • Support of the subscriber devices deployed within the Queensland GWN radio network.

  • Perform equipment configuration and refurbishment tasks as described below to high quality standards:

    • Program subscriber terminals as per prescribed procedures.

    • Ensure the relevant systems are updated when any subscriber equipment configuration is altered by the subscriber team or subcontractor representatives.

    • Identify faulty equipment and materials and determine the most suitable course of action to repair.

    • Perform asset tagging including updating any applicable database.

    • Coordinate asset movements in line with Subscriber Services requirements, other departments and various project activities.

  • Provide support for diagnosing and where possible correcting equipment configuration related issues.

  • Maintain customer relations and assist in ensuring relevant KPls and SLAs are met by preparing and sending equipment to customers.

  • Provide reports on subscriber equipment, related incidents, installations/deinstallations or related projects as required.

  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with customers and subcontractors at the various worksites.

  • Coordinate activities relating to vehicle installations, de-installations and field support, including management of subcontractor activities.

  • Ensure that the subcontractors follow the relevant processes and procedures including submitting the required documentation for vehicle installations, de-installations and field support.

  • Inspect customer vehicles to ensure that vehicle systems are installed in conformance with the relevant vehicle installation designs and configuration requirements and ensure that installations are robust and of high quality standard.

  • Produce vehicle equipment installation design documentation as required.

  • Inspection work may be required to be performed at locations other than the primary site.

  • Identify technical and other issues or improvements for the maintenance of subscriber terminals and completion of vehicle installations.

  • Assist in the development and updating of procedures relating to subscriber tasks as required.

  • Comply with Motorola policies, procedures and practices.

  • Must be prepared to work overtime as required.

  • Participate in the On Call Roster for after hours primary response.


Basic Requirements

Desirable:                    

At least one of:

  • Associate Diploma or degree in Electrical / Electronics or equivalent.

  • Certificate III or IV in Electronics / Radio Trades Certificate, Auto electrical or relevant trade qualification (e.g. in communications, radio or electronics).

  • Studies in Automotive, Engineering, Customer Service or Project Management.

Essential:

  • Customer service experience.

  • Experience with electronic or telecommunications equipment.

           

Desirable:                    

  • Installation of electronic equipment into vehicles or auto-electrical experience (highly desirable).

  • Experience with two way radio equipment.

  • Experience in carrying out quality assurance inspections in vehicles.

  • Experience in the use of digital communications test equipment.

  • Electronic equipment configuration.
