Production Operator Lead

SHIFT: 3rd (Sunday - Thursday) 8:30pm - 5:00am

PAY: $26.40 (24.40 base + Lead premium)

Facility operates on a tiered skill-based pay rate structure. A fully trained 3rd Shift Lead Operator can earn up to $29.70/hr within the first year.

JOB SUMMARY:

This role is part of our Purina Animal Nutrition business helping our network of local cooperatives, independent dealers and other large retailers serve producers, and animal owners throughout the United States. Through industry -leading R&D and committed partnerships, we innovate the nutrition products and practices that unlock the full potential of every animal for a healthier, more productive life. 

The Production Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting manufacturing equipment (i.e., machining, processing, assembly, or packaging) according to production specifications, schedules, volume/cost/waste targets, and quality standards.  Additional responsibilities include, and not limited to:

  • Understanding overall feed manufacturing operations: material input/output; work order management; allocation of raw materials and finished goods; adherence to Animal Food Safety Plan; maintaining accurate daily production records; ability to utilize and maneuver between multiple computer software systems.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Basic computer skills
  • 1 Year Operator experience to include familiarity of ERP systems, data entry, and accurate record completion.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Age: 18 years or older
  • Comprehension: Ability to read, write, comprehend, and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Critical Thinking: Utilizing a Continuous Improvement mindset to troubleshoot and root cause opportunities.
  • Safety: always ensuring the complete physical safety of oneself and one’s co-workers without exception
  • Time Management: Accountable for scheduled work shift; adapt to adjusting priorities while completing tasks within set deadlines; execute job performance to meet customer demand.
  • Coordination: Team first attitude and understanding of impact towards common goals.
  • Active Learning: Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Active Listening: Full understanding of presented concepts and asking questions, as appropriate, for additional clarification.

Physical Requirements for production positions regularly include:

  • Able to lift 55lbs
  • Frequent movement including walking, standing, bending/stooping, turning, twisting, pushing, pulling, raising arms, lifting, climbing and other active movements
  • Performing duties while wearing personal protective equipment
  • Working across temperature zones that may include cold and/or hot environments for extended periods and may include work in environments where dust is present.
  • Shift schedules that may include weekends, holidays and periodic overtime.
