Job Summary:
This position focuses on conducting advanced statistical analyses and implementing machine learning techniques to support manuscript writing and publication in health care. You will collaborate closely with researchers to analyze experimental data, interpret results, and contribute significantly to manuscript writing and editing. Assist in supporting machine learning (ML) modelling, management and problem analysis, data exploration and preparation, data collection and integration, operationalization. Support integrating quantitative methodologies with an understanding of business and clinical issues/needs to solve complex health system problems. 

What you will do:

  • Contribute to experimental design and execution, ensuring robust methodology and data integrity.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to interpret results and provide statistical support for manuscript preparation.
  • Write and edit manuscript sections, ensuring clarity, scientific rigor, and adherence to journal guidelines.
  • Apply various ML and advanced analytics techniques to perform classification or prediction tasks.
  • Responsible for modeling complex problems, discovering clinical insights and identifying opportunities using statistical, algorithmic, mining, and visualization techniques.
  • Query databases, prepares large, varied datasets, and communicates results with clinical and operational stakeholders.
  • Develops and applies data quality measures to ensure that data congruent and reliable.
  • Collaborates with operational leaders, data stewards, physicians, project/program managers, informaticists and other analysts to turn data into critical information and knowledge to be used to make sound organizational decisions.
     

What you will need:

  • Degree in Progress - Currently Enrolled Mathematics Required Or
  • Degree in Progress - Currently Enrolled Statistics Required Or
  • Degree in Progress - Currently Enrolled Data Processing Required Or
  • Degree in Progress - Currently Enrolled Business Administration/Management Required
  • Proficiency in biostatistics and experimental design.
  • Self-starter with the ability to be productive independently and able to handle multiple projects
  • Organized, detailed, and service oriented with a strong character and leadership style
  • Technically proficient and utilize technology in creative problem-solving ways to influence strategic decision-making
  • Willing to work and think outside the box
  • Ability to work 40 hours per week during the summer internship term
  • Knowledge and experience in statistical and data mining techniques: generalized linear model (GLM)/regression, random forest, boosting, trees, text mining, hierarchical clustering, deep learning, convolutional neural network (CNN), recurrent neural network (RNN), T-distributed Stochastic Neighbor Embedding (t-SNE), graph analysis, etc.
  • Ability to generate hypotheses about the underlying mechanics of the business process
  • Intermediate proficiency with SQL, SAS, R, STATA or other high-level data programming language
  • Ability to test ML models, such as cross-validation, A/B testing, bias and fairness
