As a SIG Equipment Compliance and Safety Engineer in the Systems Integration Group at Micron Technology, Inc., you will be responsible for ensuring SIG designed equipment meets legal standards for compliance and safety in addition to corporate led initiatives associated with IATF. Your responsibilities will include arranging and managing third-party tests, addressing any non-compliance issues that arise from these tests, and/or carrying out in-house testing following a pre-approved compliance test plan. You will also act as a subject matter expert, providing compliance and safety feedback to all Engineering Teams during design phases. Additionally, the Equipment Safety and Compliance Engineer will be expected to stay updated on changes to safety and IATF standards ensuring Micron’s continued compliance.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Certification Testing: Define and perform certification testing on internally designed equipment, develop test plans, and coordinate audits for IATF compliance.

  • Safety Integration: Collaborate with design teams to integrate safety standards into product development and conduct risk assessments to ensure compliance.

  • Test Equipment Operation: Operate a variety of test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, and environmental chambers, and maintain technical documentation.

  • Training & Compliance: Provide training on IATF requirements, monitor standards, and create/update technical files for CE marking and IEC61010-1 compliance.

Successful candidates for this position will have:

  • Strong knowledge of equipment safety regulations, standards, and IATF.

  • Experience in development of Fault Hazard Analysis, Fault Tree Analysis, Failure Mode Effects and Criticality Analysis, Safety Assessment Reports and supporting safety artifacts.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Detail oriented with a focus on accuracy.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Able to work independently or as part of a team.

  • Respond to safety and compliance questions from any site in the Micron network.

  • Passion for ensuring that equipment meets or exceeds established safety standards, regulations, and laws.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5+ yrs experience in equipment safety and compliance.

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (electrical or mechanical) or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Conducted Safety & Compliance Testing on equipment.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with test setup and execution as required per UL/CSA/IEC 61010-1 and other 61010 particulars as applicable.

  • Industry certifications (for example: Certified Safety Professional).

  • Experience with IATF 16949 and DFMEA

  • In depth experience with the CE Low Voltage Directive.

  • Thorough understanding of the differences between the Low Voltage Directive and Machinery Directive.
