Position Summary:

The Quality engineer analyst will be responsible for producing general assembly drawings/models, manufacturing drawings, and associated engineering documentation.  Due to advanced technical knowledge the incumbent will be expected to provide technical assistance, coaching, and mentoring to other Designers.

Work You’ll Do:

  • Perform tolerance analysis on designs; identify appropriate basic tolerances and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to satisfy the design requirement and manufacturing.
  • Execute the design of new products to support the product plan.
  • Participate regularly in process improvement within areas of responsibility; continually develop better ways of designing.
  • Assist with the verification of application system quality and functionality.
  • Notify Supervisor when assigned work will not meet time lines.
  • Provide guidance and/or training to other Designers when required.
  • Investigate, analyze, and resolve system problems.
  • Make recommendations for productivity and/or method improvements.

Education and Experience

Qualification:

The incumbent of this role must have a post-secondary education in a Mechanical Engineering; Four (4) to six (6) years’ of experience as a designer of high production injection molds and/or an equivalent (PG/Post Diploma in Plastic Mould design NTTF or CIPET with minimum 4 to 6 years’ experience in Mould design) combination of education and experience.

Experience

  • 4 to 6 years of working experience in strong plastic tooling design background.
  • Able to work with 2D / 3D in Creo (Windchill Platform)
  • Proficient in Calculating design parameters, skilled in applying industry generic or specific codes and standards.
  • Experience in manufacturing process including injection molding.
  • Good knowledge in Engineering plastic properties, Design for Manufacturing and proficient in CAD And CAE preferable in Creo (Windchill Platform)
  • Strong knowledge in MFG technology and GDNT

Other required level of technical and/or practical judgment to perform the work :

The incumbent must have advanced skills with Creo software (working in Windchill Platform) and FEA (static, dynamics, and thermal) to conduct a wide variety of complex tasks in the creation/production of new designs, prototypes, and/or fixturing and tooling. They will independently apply the science of engineering to design and ensures that all designs are completely supported through calculations. The  Senior design Engineer will play a lead role in working with manufacturing and engineering teams to provide cost effective solutions to performance problems.

Under the minimal guidance from the Design Team Lead, the Engineering Designer is responsible for constantly analyzing and producing assembly and complex manufacturing prints, for the production of manifolds, hot halfs and hot runners in a CNC machining environment. Strong attention to detail and an ability to provide timely technical assistance to other team members is required. The incumbent will interface with key stakeholders on new product programs and current product modifications to ensuring that their CAD data needs are met. The incumbent is an expert in CAD and will highlight solutions to technical problems to the Team Lead.
