Leidos has an immediate opening for a Principal IT Project Manager to join our Chief Information Office within our Digital Modernization Sector.
The Principal IT Project Manager will lead complex and high-visibility projects within the organization's CIO Project Management Office. This role is essential for ensuring that critical projects align with strategic objectives, optimize resource utilization, and deliver successful outcomes within schedule, scope, and budget. The Principal IT Project Manager will be responsible for managing project teams, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence, and driving continuous improvement across all phases of the project lifecycle.
Primary Responsibilities
- Project Leadership: Lead and manage high-impact IT projects from initiation to closure, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive project plans, including scope, schedule, budget, and resource management.
- Team Management: Oversee project teams, including technical staff and other contributors, ensuring high performance and delivery against objectives.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Develop and execute effective strategies to engage key stakeholders, providing regular updates and maintaining effective relationships to ensure thorough management of stakeholder expectations.
- Risk and Issue Management: Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and issues, ensuring timely resolution and minimal impact on project delivery.
- Performance Monitoring: Monitor and report on project performance using key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics, providing actionable insights for continuous improvement.
- Process Improvement: Conform to and continuously evaluate and enhance project management processes and methodologies to drive efficiency and effectiveness.
- Budget Management: Manage project budgets, ensuring projects are delivered within financial constraints and optimizing resource allocations.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, or a related field and 12+ years of experience in IT project management, with a proven track record of successfully leading large, complex projects.
- Demonstrated experience in leading large, cross-functional teams and driving project success.
- Strong understanding of project management methodologies, tools, and best practices.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex topics in simple terms with all levels of the organization.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Demonstrated experience leading IT projects in one or more of the following areas; infrastructure & operations, application modernization, or cyber security.
- US citizenship is required and able to obtain security clearance as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Information Technology, or a related field.
- PMP or other relevant program/project management certifications.
- In-depth knowledge of PMI PMBOK and Agile frameworks, including Scrum and SAFe agile, with practical experience operating these frameworks in an enterprise environment. Additional experience in systems engineering and organizational change management valued.
- Proven experience with ServiceNow, Microsoft Project (and Project Online), SharePoint, and Power Platforms (PowerBI, Power Automate, and Power Apps).

Pay Range:
Pay Range $108,550.00 - $196,225.00
