SUMMARY

This position is responsible for ensuring strict inventory control standard operating procedures are properly executed and adhered to and maintaining and reviewing slot locations throughout the warehouse.  Performs all duties safely, accurately and assists to meet set productivity goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs physical cycle counting of inventory to ensure accuracy of the perpetual inventory (includes product information {lot tracking and date integrity}, product condition {damage/spoilage}, stock location {mis-picks}) and any other inventory status specification.

  • Makes cycle count adjustments through variance data input into the Sysco Warehouse Management System (SWMS) to provide accurate information for planning and evaluation activities.

  • Corrects mis-stocked products found during cycle counts and from returns and informs the warehouse management staff so the appropriate associate can be coached to improve performance levels.

  • Research warehouse-outs report and identifies the reason and validity of the "out" through a physical search of the warehouse, determines needed adjustment and inputs data into the Sysco Warehouse Management System (SWMS) to provide accurate information for planning and evaluation activities.

  • Searches warehouse for special order products which have been lost or mis-shipped; includes reviewing perpetual inventory listing and slotting reports.

  • Searches warehouse receiving area and reviews perpetual inventory data at the request of merchandising staff for product in transit, notes product shipping stage and relays the information to the appropriate staff.

  • Retrieves, researches, and puts away stray cases.

  • Reviews identified problems (i.e., receiving errors and slotting errors) and corrects them.

  • Issues credit for slot checks that are incorrect.

  • Create return authorization (RA) transactions in SUS for returned and/or refused product and receive that product in SWMS (inventory) where appropriate, following the established SOP.  The transaction will properly adjust any related inventory and credit the customer for the related dollar value of the return.

  • Accurately inputs and properly maintains item elements in the Sysco Warehouse Management System (SWMS).

  • Ensures proper slotting using various reports to maximize space and productivity.  Maintains an accurate slot master file.

  • Reviews and communicates slotting opportunities with supervisors.

  • Works effectively with immediate supervisor to minimize warehouse shrink (product loss).

  • Maintains rack labels.

  • Responsible for the neatness and cleanliness of assigned work area, accuracy of warehouse locations, and travel aisles. 

  • Reports any unfixable/unsafe issues/acts immediately to supervisor.

  • Observes and enforces all safety rules to reduce accidents and injuries. 

  • Must obtain and maintain current certification on material handling equipment (MHE).

  • Operates appropriate material handling equipment (MHE) such as forklifts and pallet jacks in a safe and orderly manner to reduce accidents and injuries. 

  • Uses warehouse computers and radio frequency (RF) equipment in a safe and professional manner.

  • Understands and complies with all applicable company policies (i.e., attendance, Code of Business Conduct & Ethics, Associate Handbook, etc.).

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable State/Federal laws, regulations, and policies (i.e., OSHA (Occupational Health and Safety Administration), HACCP, etc.).

  • Cross-train and work in other warehouse functions and areas which include loading, unloading, receiving, put-away, selecting, and packing on an as qualified and as needed basis. 

  • Observe proper lifting techniques and physical work practices as defined in the Preferred Work Methods documentation.

  • Perform other warehouse duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

  • Proficient use of Microsoft Suite required.

  • Strong warehouse management systems, AS 400 and PC skills required. 

  • Analytical and detail oriented required.

  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Must pass a functional capacity test. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required, in addition to two to three years of warehouse related experience.  

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Must have ability to read and comprehend basic instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Must have ability to read and write simple correspondence, and to speak effectively in one-on-one and in small group situations.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Must have ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Must be able to compute rate, ratio, and percent. 

REASONING ABILITY

Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Must have ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Certification on material handling equipment is required, or the ability to become certified.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an associate encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  Job duties are performed in a warehouse environment.  While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly exposed to fast moving material handling equipment.  The associate is frequently exposed to variable temperatures and humid conditions, vehicle emissions; and is infrequently exposed to contained toxic or caustic chemicals.  The noise level in the work environment usually is loud.  

WORK HOURS

This is a full-time position.  The incumbent must have the ability to work a varying schedule which might include shift work (days or nights), weekdays or weekends, and some holidays.  Work hours may vary, or change based on customer order requirements, departmental requirements, and business needs.

TRAVEL

The position does not require travel.
