The Red Hat Software Production Security team seeks a Software Engineer in Brno, Czech Republic. Security is one of the most important topics for most companies nowadays. In this role, you will contribute to the Red Hat Product Pipeline's security improvements and help us make our development more secure. The primary focus will be signing technologies such as Sigstore, which is well-known in the open-source community, or cooperating with supply chain product security on tools and services that improve security compliance or other security-related interactions.

Red Hat Software Production group is responsible for building and shipping Red Hat software to customers. The team consists of Software Engineers,  Product Owners, Release Engineers, Scrum Masters, Site Reliability Engineers, and Managers. Together, they build and operate the machinery that manufactures Red Hat products. As an engineer on this effort, you will be expected to work in an Agile environment to help keep our products and services modern and up to the task of building and shipping the latest Red Hat technologies. 

We are considering candidates who are already based in the Czech Republic or willing to relocate from another European country.

What you will do

  • Participate in a scrum team
  • Learn and understand the technologies involved
  • Complete tasks on a given timeline
  • Report project progress, roadblocks, and risks that may lead to the completion date change
  • Participate in demos at the end of each sprint
  • Coordinate with team leads, architects, and other engineers to design solutions
  • Ensure delivery of test plans for your code, and provide the correct documentation
  • Quickly respond to security threats
  • Ability to thrive in a rapidly changing environment

What you will bring

  • Solid experience with Python programming language
  • Solid experience with Git and concepts of source code management
  • Familiarity with Linux operating systems
  • Ability to code and learn new programming languages
  • Experience with Continuous Integration / Delivery
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to directly interact with other teams
  • Ability to provide and accept constructive feedback that directly impacts our business goals
  • Ability to help define, follow, and enforce processes
  • Ability to work under pressure - for example, fixing issues during product release

The following is considered a plus

  • Experience with Security
  • Experience with tools like Jira, Confluence, GitLab, Ansible, Jenkins, Koji
  • Good presentation skills to present to stakeholders and internal customers
  • Understanding of how Open Source and free software communities work
  • Previous experience with building and packaging (containers, rpm, jar, etc.)
  • Ability to debug issues across multiple software layers
  • Experience with code-reviews
