KION North America is looking to hire a Solution Development Engineer to fill an important role on the solution development team. We develop solutions for the automated guided forklift (AGF) sales team. The solution develoment engineer concepts reliable and cost effective solutions through iterative processes and is responsible for validating the solutions with project execution team members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- The Solution Development Lead will be responsible for the entire proposal life cycle of projects being quoted
- Manages the solutions proposed to customers
- Includes management of all pre-contract deliverables performed by the internal team from initial meetings through firm quote within the set deadline and budget framework in compliance with the offer process
- Identifies Applicability of KION NA Standard Sub Systems in earliest stage of pre-qualification sales cycle (assure solutions are data driven)
- Owns proposal plan and communication of initial deliverable dates and subsequent changes
- Acts as the main contact for assigned Sales Engineers and Account Managers during all stages of the sales cycle
- Maintains thorough understanding of the customer's requirements (technical and commercial) to function as the voice of the customer internally
- Coordinates Initial Qualification, triage of needs, and feasibility checks (initial review of customer RFP and customer specification docs)
- Prepares and coordinates customer workshops in cooperation with Sales and other internal departments
- Supports the Account Manager in Winning Strategy and High-Vis Meetings
- Trusts and relies on team members to be the subject matter experts for project work
- Coordinates with Sales to define the definition of deliverables in the Solution Request and delivery dates
- Ensures timely and clear handovers through quality gates such as concept, tech and pricing reviews and project turnovers
- Secures approval for deviations to processes and policies (as needed)
- Coordinates with Project Management on Clarifications and Change Orders during Project Kickoff Period, including ORA's
- Attends Project Close-Out/Lessons Learned Meeting

- Proficient in Autodesk (AutoCAD)
- Willingness to travel 15 - 20%
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree required
- 1 - 4 years of logistics and automation experience, with 1+ years of direct applicable project management experience
