KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Participate as a member of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) in the development, revision, dissemination, and implementation of the ThedaCare strategic plan.
Develop, articulate, and deploy/execute a vision and strategic direction for the practice of nursing in all enterprise clinical settings.
Share joint accountability with CMOs and Physician Leadership for achieving ThedaCare strategic goals and objectives specific to clinical quality and high reliability.
Collaborate with other accountable leaders to achieve all ThedaCare metrics.
Create effective system nursing leadership structure. Professional Practice
Enhance and support the ThedaCare system philosophy of nursing.
Develop, recommend, and implement guidelines, policies, and procedures designed to improve the delivery of safe, efficient, and effective nursing care and reduce practice variation.
In partnership with divisional nursing leadership, direct the strategic development, deployment, continuity, consistency, and delivery of nursing care across the system.
Direct the development of strategies to promote recruitment, retention, and recognition of excellence in nursing.
Assist in the continuous readiness for regulatory inspections, like the TJC, particularly as it relates to nursing practice.
Instill a Just Culture nursing mindset devoted to creating the safest environment for patients and staff. Participate, and co-lead when appropriate, STOP for Safety initiatives in nursing areas. Operations
Work with the CMOs, SLT, and medical staff leaders to implement and execute operational plans to achieve system objectives.
Create and implement, in collaboration with divisional nursing leaders, a process to ensure efficient and effective day-to-day functioning of nursing operations, including best practices and efficient use of the EMR.
Create an environment for effective recruitment and retention of staff that promotes professional growth, development, and accountability.
Identify and develop leadership talent and skills of nursing staff. Communications and Relationship Management
Serve as the senior nursing executive spokesperson for and within ThedaCare, and coordinate and collaborate with operations and quality leaders in advocacy efforts at the local, state, and national level.
In collaboration with key stakeholders and constituents, responsible for overseeing the development of a collaborative and coordinated inter-professional approach to patient care delivery inclusive of fostering proactive and positive relationships with physicians, allied health, and other medical professionals and organizations.
Act as coach and mentor, while promoting professional growth and accountability within nursing leadership, staff, students, and colleagues to promote and build the pipeline of future healthcare professionals. Personal Professional Development
Seek out new knowledge regarding nursing practice and the roles and functions of patient care team members.
Engage in lifelong learning and acquisition of new skills by developing and/or participating in enterprise wide education programs and activities. Community Involvement
Be visible in the community through participation in high profile Boards and various civic organizations, and serve as a spokesperson for ThedaCare and nursing as a profession.
Represent ThedaCare and system nursing in the community through active participation and engagement.
Establish and maintain relationships with business, civic and government entities to position the care continuum within the system as an important component to the economic and medical health of the communities served by ThedaCare.
Create and maintain a collaborative and professional working relationship with senior leadership, administration and governance groups.
Be a spokesperson for ThedaCare leadership at the appropriate venues as required

QUALIFICATIONS:
Possess a proven record of nursing leadership with a minimum of 7 years of executive leadership experience in progressively responsible positions in large, national, or regional systems that are similar in size and complexity to ThedaCare, both in terms of revenues, number of facilities, bed capacity, and market competitiveness.
Experience creating and implementing a nursing vision for aligned clinical practice and nursing care across a healthcare system is required.
Graduate of accredited school of nursing. A master’s degree in healthcare administration, nursing, or related field is required; Doctorate is preferred.
Licensed (or be eligible for licensure) as a registered professional nurse in State of Wisconsin
American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS)
Experience in QI process improvement methodologies, e.g., Lean, six sigma.
Both for-profit and non-profit background will be considered. • Magnet implementation/experience desired.
Prior experience in a community hospital with academic ties is also preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of twenty-five (25) pounds without assistance
Job classification is not exposed to blood borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) while performing job duties
