We are looking for you to join our team as a Staff Systems Engineer - Product Owner based out of Pt. Mugu, CA. As a Staff Systems Engineer - Product Owner at Northrop Grumman, you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Enterprise-wide digital transformation. Essential Job Functions:
- This role will work directly with stakeholders, designers and engineers to deliver quality products and features.
- Work cross functionally with the business heads and delivery heads to execute the product strategy and roadmap.
- Act as a subject matter expert to a cross-functional team on sprint planning, standups, retrospectives, and maintaining prioritized product backlog.
- Assess value, develop use cases, and prioritize epics and stories to ensure work focuses on those with maximum value that are aligned with product strategy.
- Manage product backlog, iteration planning and elaboration of user stories.
- Write effective user stories with clearly defined acceptance criteria.
- Lead product release planning and set the expectation for delivery of new products or features
- Keep abreast with Agile/Scrum best practices and trends.
- Work closely with engineering leads to manage technical debt and ensure timely delivery of projects.
- Clearly define Acceptance Criteria and certify feature readiness.
- Expert Agile Processes management (Scrum and Agile Hybrid) and Cross Functional communication.

Basic Qualifications for Staff Systems Engineer - Product Owner:
- BS in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 12+ years of relevant engineering experience or MS in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) and 10+ years of relevant engineering experience or PhD in a STEM related discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) and 7+ years of relevant engineering experience.
- Must have US Citizenship
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
- Strong practical knowledge of agile methodologies, product development, information architecture, and product testing.
- Comfortable drafting comprehensive user stories, acceptance criteria, dependencies, predecessors, and ability to refine with the team to get 'sprint ready'.
- Very comfortable writing concise, clear, well thought out documentation.
- Familiarity with the technical architectural considerations involved when designing for complex systems.
Preferred Qualifications for Staff Systems Engineer - Product Owner:
- Previous experience in the government / DoD software development.
- Experience with avionics systems and components.
- Experienced in JIRA or other agile product management tools, Task Management, CM Tools.
- Experience working closely in cross-disciplinary teams, IPT Leadership, Systems Engineers, BFMs, Task Team Leads and Developers, to shepherd products through the complete Software Lifecycle.
- Quickly learn and understand the product, technical constraints, team dynamics and organization's culture.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment.
- Outstanding communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
- Creative, and adaptable.
- Self-motivated and quick learning.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Resourcefulness and troubleshooting aptitude.
- Attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Active Secret or TS security clearance.
Salary Range: $165,000.00 - $247,600.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
