As the NIF Scientific Project Manager, you will be instrumental in driving the successful delivery of key initiatives within the National Imaging Facility. This critical role involves overseeing the complete project lifecycle—from initiation and planning to execution and closure. Your responsibilities will span detailed project planning, developing robust monitoring and evaluation processes, and ensuring all project deliverables are met within scope, time, and budget. You will also manage stakeholder engagements and support comprehensive project reporting.
This role demands a strategic approach to project management, requiring you to proactively identify and mitigate risks, manage changes in project scope, and ensure that all communications and stakeholder interactions are expertly handled. Collaboration is key, and you will work closely with senior academic and professional staff, external consultants, and industry partners to achieve project outcomes. Your contributions will be pivotal in ensuring that the projects align with the strategic goals of the organisation, delivering high-impact results.
Key responsibilities will include:
Undertake detailed project planning, provide specialist advice, and support project governance and reporting to ensure effective and efficient delivery of project priorities and outcomes.
Conduct research and analysis, prepare project briefs, and develop fit -for-purpose project documentation to support informed decision-making and planning.
Conduct stakeholder analysis, coordinate project communication, and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders to support project delivery and engagement activities.
Monitor and report on project plans, milestones, and deliverables; identify, control, and manage issues, risks, dependencies, and changes in project scope.
National Imaging Facility (NIF) is Australia’s advanced imaging network.

Proven track record in managing medium to large projects within complex organisational contexts, preferably in tertiary or research institutions.
Excellent liaison and negotiation skills to build and maintain strong relationships within various university departments and the broader community.
Strong proficiency in project management methodologies and tools, with the ability to develop and implement effective project monitoring and evaluation systems.
Proven ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively under pressure, delivering high-quality outcomes within tight deadlines.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating risks and issues.
The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including right to work in Australia and a criminal check.
